2. How Do People Learn About
Each Other?
You may have a hard time talking to
someone of the opposite sex.
Do you have something in common?
Do you have mutual friends?
Do you attend the same activities?
You may find it easier to approach someone
in these situations.
3. Dating
Dating is another way to get to know
someone that you are attracted to.
You are learning more about relationships
when you date.
Gives you an opportunity to learn about
each other’s thoughts and feelings.
4. What is love and responsible
sexual behavior?
There are many kinds of love:
1) Family and close friends
2) Someone of the opposite sex
5. INFATUATION - an intense emotion based
mainly on physical attraction.
Love at first sight.
Only see the physical qualities and ignores
any other faults of that person.
May lead to strong sexual feelings
6. SEXUAL BEHAVIOR - is the way a person
expresses his/her sexual feelings.
Holding hands, hugging, kissing
Abstinence
7. Advantages for setting limits on
sexual behavior:
Sex outside of marriage can have serious
consequences
STD’s (AIDS)
Pregnancy
8. Abstinence prevents
Bad reputations among peers
Serious confrontations with parents
Loving someone doesn’t mean that sexual
contact must occur.
9. What influences adolescent
sexual behavior?
Family - good source of information
answering questions for you.
Peers
Dating partners - you may feel pressured by
your partner.
If this happens you need to be informed and
have a plan.
