Farms are important as they provide nearly all of our food. There are different types of farms including dairy farms that raise cows for milk, cheese and butter, poultry farms that raise chickens, turkeys and ducks for meat and eggs, and crop farms that grow foods like grains, fruits and vegetables. Farms require machinery like tractors, plows, cotton pickers and planters to operate and maintain crops.

5. Machinery Farmers need a lot of machinery to maintain their farms. They need tractors to bale the hay, plows to dig up the soil, cotton picker to pick the cotton, row planter to plant the seeds and a sprayer to spray their crops for bugs.
