Points of Concurrency in Triangles MM1G3.e
Point of concurrency - the place where three or more lines, rays, or segments intersect at the same point
Angle bisector – a line or ray that divides an angle in half
incenter – the point of concurrency of the three angle bisectors of a triangle
altitude – the perpendicular segment from one vertex of the triangle to the opposite side or to the line that contains the opposite side
orthocenter – the point of concurrency of the three altitudes of a triangle
Perpendicular bisector – a segment, ray, or line that is perpendicular to a segment at its midpoint
circumcenter – the point of concurrency of the three perpendicular bisectors of a triangle
median – a segment from a vertex of a triangle to the midpoint of the opposite side
centroid – the point of concurrency of the three medians of a triangle
1. What is the difference between an altitude and a perpendicular bisector? 2. Classify Term Starts from the vertex Doesn’t start from vertex Angle bisector Altitude Perpendicular bisector Median
