Japan example: In 2000, Telecom dominates over Mobile Internet (only 3% Market Value), but by 2009 Mobile Internet rose to 22&

Important Developments In a year and a half (May ‘08 – Dec. ‘09) there were rapid developments/announcements. Consumers now expect to “get what they want when they want it, from the palm of their hand…” Twitter, Skype, Foursquare, Facebook
Skype: VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) makes talking on the phone free With 521mm+ users, it would be the largest carrier in the world. Twitter: On-the-go tracking of thoughts; never stop communicating with someone Monetizing with ads resembling tweets Foursquare: Taking Twitter a step further; is it “Big Brother”-esque?
Facebook The giant of the new mobile communication platforms; leading social networking platform in the world. “In-the-clouds” content: shift from mainframe computing to client-server based…a “digital locker” Facebook has it all: Ubiquitous Computing You have 0 Friends
