CADE uses Second Life for anti-violence training for the CeaseFire program. It allows ex-gang members to learn to stop shootings and killings through street-level outreach and community role play in various virtual urban environments. CADE also does public health emergency preparedness training in Second Life.

8. Stephen White I was born and raised in Chicago. I attended Julian High School and dropped out to pursue at “street” lifestyle. As a result, I was incarcerated for four years. After my incarceration I joined CeaseFire as a Violence Interrupter. Since 2005 I’ve participated in mediating over 20 conflicts in the Woodlawn Community. -- Stephan White 8
10. Bernard Baltimore I was gang affiliated at a very young age and only made it to the 11th grade. Shortly after being released from prison, I was introduced to CeaseFire. Now my plans are to go back to school for accounting and open a halfway house for guys who were formerly incarcerated. --Bernard Baltimore
12. Janell Sails I was born and raised in Chicago. After my early experience in witnessing drugs and gang violence, I decided to give back to my community by joining CeaseFire with the efforts to reduce violence in the West Englewood Community. --Janell Sails
14. Bernard Jedkins I became gang affiliated at 14 and dropped out of school. I spent most of my time selling drugs and gang banging. After four years in prison, I got a job with CeaseFire. 16. Tio Hardimann Tio Hardimann is a former street hustler and high-school dropout turned academic. He is the Director of Mediation Services for the CeaseFire Project and has dedicated his life to helping in the campaign to stop violence.
