The first step is to decide who do you need to work with? How can you work with them? And how urgent is it? That way you decide the best method of delivery. But network and equipment are not enough Value is only created when the service is used , not when the equipment is bought. Let’s give an example of when to use various types of technology we just outlined to collaborate: Marketing manager of a company need to reshape a mobile device He needed to talk to R&D. contacted via IM, R&D guys was not in his desk. Market Manager could show simultaneous ring- Single Number reach. Saw IM to his phone. (avani) He answered yes I am available. In order to share doc he needs to go back to desk. Yes to share. Better to speak. Still on IM conversation. Then Marketing Manager opened a PC to PC call on the PC. Point to point call on OCS on the desktop Should escalate to video to show. Escalate to share an xls using Livemeeting Involved a 3 rd party. Who wasn’t available on net. Financial director needed to verify. Left message from FD on his buddy list to contact him on mobile. Call from OCS, off net to mobile. Then approve figures. Value was ok. Shows it is easy, cost effective. Can show TP to Polycom and round table and Cisco.
