2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? THIS IS A REAL MAGAZINE, WHICH I WILL USE IN ORDER TO DEMONSTRATRE WHICH FORMS AND CONVENTIONS I HAVE USED IN MY MAGAZINE. I put a title of my magazine on the front page, as normally done, in the left corner. This is quite usual as people first look at the top left corner of a page I also put a bar at the top with a photo of an artist featured in my magazine like this has, as the reader wants to know if any artists they like are in the magazine The artist’s name is also included, which is normal as one needs to know who the person in the picture is The main featured artists’ picture covers the front page like mine, which is a normal convention I included a bar at the bottom with names of bands which are also featured in my magazine which is usual for a music magazine I put a barcode and price on my magazine which is a normal convention for press media
3. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? THIS IS MY MAGAZINE, WHICH IS WILL USE TO SHOW WHERE I CHALLENGED OR DEVELOPED FORMS AND CONVENTIONS The bar at the top of the page includes issue of magazine- quite conventional Small piece of writing- usual for contents I followed the usual conventions of contents page layout- by having headings and page numbers I didn’t include lots of text which would give further information to attract consumers, just band names I included a plug for another platform- radio, quite common
4. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? THIS IS MY MAGAZINE, WHICH IS WILL USE TO SHOW WHERE I CHALLENGED OR DEVELOPED FORMS AND CONVENTIONS I developed the convention of the a review of an artist by including a review box in the interview. This review not only includes a music review but an interview review There is the conventional main photo, but I developed that by adding smaller ones on the opposite page There’s a quote in larger writing in the text which is conventional The main photo I used is slightly unconventional as it’s dark lighting and not clear- creating a unique edge The layout is conventional, question answer format in columns with a title and a sentence in larger font to introduce the interview

6. My mode of address throughout the magazine constantly refers to the consumer as ‘us’ creating a feeling of belonging.
7. The bands mentioned are the kind of bands the ‘Indie’ social group would listen to.
8. In the pictures the mise-en-scene creates a feeling of rebellion and guitar based music, as the lighting is dark and there are guitars and drums.
9. Places such as Camden are mentioned, which are places where people of an ‘Indie’ social group would go to shop or see live music.
10.
11. Another media institution is Bauer Media who publishes Kerrang! , they have 80 media brands and 20 local radio stations. Some of the magazines they publish are Heat, Grazia, FHM and Closer. However Kerrang! is a different niche magazine aimed at a different subculture.
12.
13. My main aim for creating this music magazine, was that it would be intensely focused upon new and popular Indie artists, which effected the way in which the consumers dressed, acted and socialised. I also wanted my magazine to be able to determine where my readers would go to socialise, therefore I mentioned gig venues and casually mentioned festivals they’d be interested in.
14.
15. I attracted my wanted audience by including names of well known Indie artists on the front page for the consumer to know whether they would like this magazine. I also focused on using dark lighting in my photos to create a rebellious attitude.
16. I made my magazine seem visually exciting by using a range of graphics, such as shadowing fonts, and by using a range of photographs.
17.
18. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I’ve obtained a range of skills from creating a music magazine. I have learnt how to use Photoshop, as before I had never used it. I learnt how to manipulate photographs and use graphics to successful make the most real music magazine possible. I built upon my photographing skills, by using professional cameras and the rule of thirds. My audience feedback told me my photos were well photographed. I learnt how to create a avatar movie on a website called xtranormal.com to make my blog more interesting. I also learnt how to use the internet blogging site Blogger, and how to place different types of media on it. I learnt how to make movies on a Mac laptop, and how the edit them to vary my different forms of media.
19. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? FRONT PAGE I learnt how to use more complex fonts and edit them to make the font shadowed or bolder I learnt how to improve in taking photographs, as the preliminary ones were simple I discovered how to create shapes on Photoshop, allowing me to create a bar code and star I developed my use of colour scheme, making it more complex I learnt how to use framing devices better
20. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? COVER PAGE I increased the use of headings and framing devices to make my contents more structured I learnt how to use different fonts to make the contents seem more interesting I also learnt how to take photographs more professionally and therefore I could include more on my contents which were well thought about and photographed Through my ability to understand magazines better I was able to make it more realistic by adding an advertisement for another platform
21. Overall... I feel I have successfully made a niche Indie genre music magazine which would be purchased by those who follow the Indie subculture. I feel I have both followed and developed upon conventions, attracting and addressing my audience with success. I also feel I have developed many skills I have eloped throughout this process.
