Reproductive system Jelilat Rasheed
Gestation The time required for the development of fetus is gestation. The period of time between conception and labor.  It is approximately forty weeks (280 days), measured from the first day of the mother's last menstrual period
Gestation stages First Trimester Second Trimester Third Trimester
First Trimester The first trimester of pregnancy begins when the fetus attaches itself to the womb and extends till the completion of the third month of pregnancy
Second Trimester The second trimester begins from the forth month and extends up to the sixth month of pregnancy.  By this time, morning sickness usually goes away . The woman starts feeling energetic.
Third Trimester last three months of pregnancy   It is a crucial period as the body gets ready for childbirth The size of the baby and the mother increases considerably at this stage  Fetus starts changing its position, shifting downwards.
Menopause Menopause is the transition period in a woman's life when her ovaries stop producing eggs,  her body produces less estrogen and progesterone menstruation becomes less frequent, eventually stopping altogether.
Common symptoms of Menopause Heart pounding or racing  Hot flashes  Night sweats  Skin flushing  Sleeping problems (insomnia)
Ovum An egg in the ovary of the female.  This egg is called the female "gamete" or sex cell. It combines with the male gamete, called a sperm, to form a zygote. This formation process is called "fertilization."
