Anthem The national anthem O Canada was composed in 1880 by Calixa Lawallee to the lyrics by Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The anthem was first written in French and translated into English by Robert Stanley Weira in 1908. On 1st July 1980 O Canada became the national anthem of the country.
