2. Goal You are part of a team of executives of a shipping company that ships sports equipment to places around the world.
3. Role As a company your role is to make the most efficient container to transport goods for a company. If the company determines that you have done good work, they will commission (hire) you for a multi-million dollar contract.
4. Audience Your teachers will be acting as executives of sports companies such as Nike and Addidas and determine if your work demonstrates that you should be hired as their shipping managers.
5. Situation You must make a box that can hold 3 of your company products. How well you make your box will determine whether you have shown your understanding of surface area and volume.
6. Performance You will build a model prototype that can hold three items. In doing so, you must demonstrate: How much material was used for the container. (Surface Area) How much space is left in your container (Efficiency) Your artistic talent by designing a company logo that is flashy (Design Integration)
8. Timeline of Tasks Day 1 Determine what is the best way to package three of your items in a sketch. Measure and cut out a net as a box on practice paper Calculate the surface area of your container. Extension Design a logo/icon, company name and company slogan to attach to your box using Photoshop or other multimedia software. Due Next Class
9. Timeline of Tasks Day 2 If your prototype practice net (on white paper) is perfect, cut your actual net on the brown paper.
