The IELTS exam is divided or rather has two
versions, one the General IELTS and the other is
the Academic IELTS. They both are taken for
different purposes and include a different
pattern, way and questions asked as well. The
academic one is for those applying to study

graduation or post graduation level. The
general training on the other hand is meant for
those who have applied for immigrant status or
for working on a foreign soil.
An IELTS exam lasts up to 3 hours which four sections covering the Listening, Reading, Writing and
Speaking knowledge of any individual in English language. The 40 minutes lasting IELTS listening part
includes playing a passage and questions related to the same are asked. They can be small passages
and thus can be around 5 passages asked with 5-6 questions per passage and 10 minutes given to
mark the answers. The next step includes the writing part which checks your writing and creative
skills where you would be given an essay and an hour or less to write on it.
The speaking part is where one on one interview with the examiner which includes talking on the
abstract things of your life and life in general. This part is considered to be the toughest for it solely
depends on your presence of mind and communication skills how you handle the interview. At
