2. • As indicated above, 50% of my participants were
male while 50% of participants were female. This
suggests that the following opinions shown are likely
to be balanced for each gender. As my target
audience will be both genders, these following
results should help me to adapt my trailer and my
ideas in order to appeal to both genders.
3. • Next, I asked for the ages of my participants and
found that 11/24 of my participants were the age of
my target audience. This could be due to the fact
that I posted my questionnaire on Facebook and
Twitter to maximise the responses I could obtain. I
also found that another popular age bracket was 24-
34, indicating another potential market for my film.
4. • I also asked my participants about their educational
background as this would help me when creating the plot for
my film as to what features and themes to include in order to
appeal to my target audience. As indicated by my results the
majority of my participants have completed A-level
qualifications or have a degree suggesting that they are well
educated and are more likely to understand cultural
references, a feature I could include in my narrative.
5. • By asking this question, I was able to gain a greater
understanding about my audiences likes and
dislikes. Popular answers from this question
included: Saw, Psycho, The Conjuring and Sinister.
These indicate some examples of trailers I can
analyse to gain some further knowledge of aspects of
trailers which appeal to my audience.
6. • Similarly to my previous question, this question
allowed me to gain further knowledge of my target
audiences likes and dislikes. Popular examples of
thriller films included: Shutter island, Inception and
Unfriended. Which indicates some examples of
trailers that I can further study.
7. • This question allowed me to gain more knowledge as to what
themes are popular amongst my audience, these included
action, psychological, masked characters and crime/legal
themes. This information may help me to develop my ideas
further. Another suggestion from my participants was to
create a film which redefines the genre by introducing an
element which hasn’t been seen before; this has encouraged
me to investigate other trailers such as Unfriended.
8. • By asking this question, I found that the
majority of my participants preferred to see a
balance between a little and a lot from a trailer.
While others preferred to see a little from a
trailer, this encourages me to be careful when
creating my trailer to ensure I do not give too
much away.
9. Here, are some reasons as to why
my participants prefer to see less
than more within a film trailer:
