Scholarly communication - “the system through which
research and other scholarly writings are created,
evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly
community, and preserved for future use. The system
includes both formal means of communication, such as
publication in peer-reviewed journals, and informal
channels, such as electronic listservs.” (ARL, “Principles and

concern or a passion for something
they do and learn how to do it better
as they interact regularly

CoP are important by themselves
but in scholarly communication so
their connection to the outside world
What is the Research Consortium?
“Faculty driven organization dedicated to supporting Bagwell College of Education
faculty and graduate students in going through the full research cycle.”
Each college department sends a representative to serve on the committee.
In addition, RC Committee consists of non-voting but hard working
members/consultants:
