Since the last century, it has been observed regularly
that intense and rapid sports, while bringing some
health benefits, can damage muscles, ligaments
and joints. This is why soft sports, such as jogging,
Nordic walking or hiking are taking over and are
now very popular with the public being increasingly
aware of the links between sport and health.
Throughout its millennial history, China has
developed multiple practices to gently exercise the
body while nourishing the vital principle. Among
these soft and flexible practices, Taijiquan is the highest achievement of
Chinese culture, because it has integrated the essentials:
The Taijiquan exercise system has flexibility as its foundation, the Taoist
thought for pattern, and Confucianism, the Sunzi’s Art of War and Chan
Buddhism as “arch-buttresses”. In addition, it is closely related to
traditional Chinese medicine, i.e. Do-in, Qigong, acupuncture and any
research related to the maintenance of life.
In appearance, Taijiquan induces health benefits comparable to those of
aerobic gymnastics, but with more meaningful and significant content,
refined resources, and broader development potential.
It has been confirmed by scientific studies that the regular practice of
Taijiquan strengthens the body, improves health, dispels disease, increases
life expectancy, slows the pace of life and soothes emotions. But we must
not forget that this is the result of the transmission of an ancient oriental
culture.
The future is on its way, since already several universities, both in the East
and in the West, include Taijiquan courses in their curricula. In China,
it is classified as “a true quality label for health”. In the United States,
the Medical School of Emory University in Atlanta has started a research
project on “the impact of Taijiquan practice on balance and mobility in
older adults”.
From all this, we can state that Taijiquan has already opened a vast sector
of activity in the field of health and culture.
Professor TENG Shih-hai
Grand Master of the World Federation

the words of the grand master
21. 21
First of all, I would like to thank the participants
from the different countries to welcome us, and for
the work done - today and yesterday - by all the
volunteers in Poland under the leadership of Jan
Glinski. I also wish to thank Ambassador Weber
V.B. Shih from the Taipei Representative Office
in Poland for his assistance of any kind. Finally,
I would like to thank especially Antoine, Marianne,
our French teams, who provide all their help, both
logistical and in the other fields. It is an honor
for me to be here with you, and I look forward to
seeing all of us together.
We believe that investing time in Taiji means to embark on a sustainable
life cycle: one day, there will be a return, and this return will be great. We
create the conditions for people to practice Taiji, we help them to stay
healthy. At the same time, we help ourselves to improve our health, to
maintain a clean and calm environment, a peaceful society. So, of course,
we want to encourage people to practice Taiji for themselves, but also to
spread it to other people. In this way, we will be able to deploy an ever-
larger circle, where more and more people will enjoy Taiji.
The purpose of our Federation is to develop an environment for Taiji
practice, for everyone. Today, for the first time, the championship of our
Taiji Federation is held in Poland. It is an honor for me to announce that
enthusiasm has reached a peak today. We wish everybody goes away
with this passion to everywhere, for many years to come. Taiji Martial Arts
has proven to be the ideal activity for people of all ages, and they form
an important part of Chinese culture. We have a real chance to share this
sport in a sustainable global approach. In 100 years, our successors will
remember our efforts. Thank you to everyone here: you are great, you are
great.
Finally, I wish each participant, his family, friends and acquaintances
a wonderful Festival and a wonderful trip. Thank you to all of you.

The 1st European Festival of Yang Taiji Classical
Martial Arts could have taken place in Poland,
I am deeply happy and relieved. Mr. Jan Glinski,
responsible for the transmission of Taiji Martial
Arts in Poland, with the support of the French
Executive Committee, courageously accepted this
heavy charge.
And even more appreciably, our World Federation
of Yang Taiji Classic Martial Arts was able to gather
a large delegation from Taiwan, 135 persons,
to participate in this 1st European Festival.
Similarly, Mr. and Mrs. Ho Chin-Han came from the United States, and
Mr. Georgi Denichin from Bulgaria with about twenty of his students.
Jean-Christophe Largent, Dominique Niez, Marianne Plouvier, Didier
Duchamp, Judith Burel, Raphaël Paluszek, Alain et Chantal Léong-Po, Philippe
Thomas, Jacques Cochet, Annie Wajsbrot, Catherine Boucounaud, Norman
Prades, all teachers responsible for the transmission in our Taiji Martial Arts
School, coming from different places of France, warmly invited their pupils to
participate in this Festival of Taiji. I am grateful to them.
This is really a great family reunion of Taiji Culture!
Our Grand-master Teng Shih-hai said:
« The Taijiquan is an initiation to Taoist philosophy through the body.
It constitutes a system of sport and physical exercises based on flexibility,
with the core of Taoist thought, and as collateral references Confucianism, the
military art of Sunzi and Buddhism-Chan. »
In Europe, we persist in developing and transmitting the Yang Taiji Classic
Martial Arts for health, for self-defense techniques, and for understanding
Taoist philosophical thought through one’s own body.

And now I would like to share with you a short poem of a great Taiwanese
master calligrapher of the last century, Yu Youren (1879-1964):
«The Tao (way) is like drifting clouds and flowing water; De (Virtue) is like
sweet dew and gentle breeze. »
My dear condisciples, let’s follow Yangjialaojia Taijiquan’s movements like
drifting clouds and flowing water. Let us keep ourselves in a state of body
awareness and spiritual sensitivity like the sweet dew and gentle breeze.

The one who contemplates Emptiness
24. 24
Taiji quan came to Poland in the 1970s, but until the
beginning of the political transformation in the 1990s
it was a very niche discipline, known to a few, even if
only by name. After 1990, the opening of Poland to the
West and the Far East resulted in a quite rapid growth
of the number of taiji teachers and adepts of various
styles, also being the result of a certain ‘mode for taiji’.
At the beginning of the 21st century, this fashion effect
began to subside, with the parallel rapid economic
development of the country and the increasing pace of
life, leaving little room for the disciplines that did not
promise quick results with a minimum of effort.
As in many countries, there are two trends of taiji in
Poland. The increasing pace of life, the progressing consumerism and the pressure to
follow ever new fashions mean that many taiji clubs focus today more on the physical
exercise than the traditional taiji practice with its proven methods of disciplining the
body, mind and spirit.
Some taiji clubs of various styles have resisted that pressure of “modernity” and,
while remaining faithful to traditional transmission, enrich their offer with other,
simpler elements of training, usually drawing from a very rich treasure of qigong and
exploiting modern ICT tools in teaching. This is also the approach of our Dantian
Foundation, quite logical since it has direct, considerable support of the sixth and
seventh generation masters of Old Yang Style Taijiquan (Yangjialaojia), Grand Master
Teng Shih-hai and Master Ly Chuan-zheng (Antoine Ly), who has been my great
teacher for over 20 years.
Entrusting us with the organization of the first European Festival of this style by
the World Yang Taiji Classical Martial Arts Federation, led by Vincent Young, and
with the unfailing support of our French association, Marianne Plouvier and Jacques
Cochet in particular, is for us an undoubted honor and motivation for further work.
The Festival is also a unique opportunity for us to draw the attention of Polish media
and their public to the proven health benefits and positive psychophysical aspects
of taiji training, which can be practiced at any age, regardless of physical condition.
We are pleased that those aspects have been noticed and resulted in the honorary
patronage of our Festival by the Marshall of the Opole Voivodeship and the Prefect
of the Brzeg District. We are also grateful to several organizations and individuals for
their support in various form.

25. 25
We are also happy that our Festival, for most of its foreign participants, including
many of my longtime friends, is an opportunity to have their first contact with the
rich Polish history and culture.
It is worth recalling here that Poland has also a tradition of appreciating the
benefits of healthy exercise. One of those enlightened promoters was Wojciech
Oczko (1537-1599), court physician of three Polish kings: Zygmunt August, Stefan
Batory and Zygmunt III Waza, who used to say: “Exercise is able to replace
almost every drug, but all medicines taken together cannot replace exercise”.
And in this spirit, common to the East and the West, our Dantian Foundation,
with its motto of “Energy of conscious exercise”, promotes the values of regular
training of classical taiji.

Jean-Christophe Largent, Dominique Niez, Marianne Plouvier, Didier Duchamp,
Judith Burel, Raphaël Paluszek, Alain et Chantal Léong-Po, Philippe Thomas,
Jacques Cochet, Annie Wajsbrot, Catherine Boucounaud, Norman Prades,
« Le Dao (ou la Voie), comme le glissement des nuages et l’eau qui ruisselle ;

mode a commencé à s’atténuer, parallèlement

więzadła i stawy.
I właśnie dlatego, łagodne sporty, takie jak
jogging, nordic walking lub piesze wędrówki,
cieszą się rosnącą popularnością przy wzrastającej
świadomości o powiązaniach między sportem
a zdrowiem.
Chiny, w ciągu tysięcy lat swojej historii, rozwinęły
wiele praktyk, pozwalających delikatnie ćwiczyć ciało, a jednocześnie
odbudowywać siły witalne. Wśród tych miękkich i elastycznych praktyk,
Taijiquan jest najwyższym osiągnięciem chińskiej kultury, ponieważ
zintegrowało ich najistotniejsze składniki:
Fundamentem system ćwiczeń Taijiquan jest elastyczność, zaś myśl
taoistyczna dostarcza modelu, a z kolei konfucjanizm, Sztuka Wojny Sunzi
ibuddyzmChanwystępująwroli„łukówprzyporowych.”PonadtoTaijiquan
jest ściśle związane z tradycyjną chińską medycyną, tj. Do-in, Qigongiem,
akupunkturą i wszelkimi badaniami związanymi z utrzymaniem życia.
Z pozoru, praktyka Taijiquan owocuje korzyściami zdrowotnymi
porównywalnymizkorzyściamipłynącymizgimnastykiaerobowej,niemniej
jest znacznie bardziej bogata treściowo, dysponuje wyrafinowanymi
zasobami i szerszym potencjałem rozwojowym.
Medycyny Uniwersytetu Emory w Atlancie rozpoczął projekt badawczy
„Wpływ praktyki Taijiquan na zachowanie równowagi i mobilność u osób
starszych”.
działania w dziedzinie zdrowia i kultury.

taiji: podejście, zrównoważony cykl
Chciałbym przede wszystkim podziękować
uczestnikom z różnych krajów za powitanie oraz
za pracę wykonaną – dzisiaj i wcześniej – przez
wolontariuszy w Polsce pod kierownictwem Jana
Glińskiego. Chciałbym również podziękować
ambasadorowi Weber V.B. Shih z Przedstawicielstwa
Tajwanu w Polsce za wszelką pomoc. Chciałbym
też szczególnie podziękować Antoine, Marianne
i naszym ekipom francuskim, które udzieliły
wszelkiej pomocy, zarówno logistycznej, jak
i w innym zakresie. Jest dla mnie zaszczytem być tutaj
z wami i z niecierpliwością oczekuję na nasze spotkanie.
Wierzymy, że zainwestowanie czasu w Taiji oznacza rozpoczęcie
zrównoważonego cyklu życia: pewnego dnia nastąpi zwrot z tej inwestycji
i będzie on wielki. Stwarzamy ludziom warunki do ćwiczenia Taiji, pomagamy
wspaniałego Festiwalu i szczęśliwej podróży. Dziękuję wszystkim.

Pierwszy Europejski Festiwal Sztuk Walki
Klasycznego Yang Taiji odbywa się w Polsce
– jestem z tego powodu głęboko szczęśliwy
i pełen spokoju, bo pan Jan Gliński,
odpowiedzialny za transmisję Sztuk Walki Taiji
w Polsce, przy wsparciu Francuskiego Komitetu
Wykonawczego, odważnie przyjął na siebie
ciężar jego organizacji.
Cowięcej,naszaŚwiatowaFederacjaKlasycznych
Sztuk Walki Yang Taiji, była w stanie zgromadzić
dużą, liczącą 135 osób, delegację z Tajwanu,
aby wziąć udział w tym Pierwszym Europejskim Festiwalu.
Podobnie, ze Stanów Zjednoczonych, przybyli państwo Ho Chin-Han,
z Bułgarii zaś Georgi Denichin, z około dwudziestoma studentami.
Są Jean-Christophe Largent, Dominique Niez, Marianne Plouvier, Didier
Duchamp, Judith Burel, Raphaël Paluszek, Alain et Chantal Léong-
Po, Philippe Thomas, Jacques Cochet, Annie Wajsbrot, Catherine
Boucounaud, Norman Prades – wszyscy ci nauczyciele odpowiedzialni za
transmisję w naszej Szkole Sztuk Walki Taiji, zapraszając gorąco swoich
uczniów do udziału w tym Festiwalu, przybyli z różnych miejsc nauczania
we Francji. Jestem im za to wdzięczny.
To naprawdę wielkie rodzinne spotkanie Kultury Taiji!
konfucjanizmu, sztuki militarnej Sunzi i buddyzmu Chan.”
W Europie, podtrzymujemy rozwój i przekaz sztuk walki klasycznego Yang
Taiji jednocześnie dla zdrowia, technik samoobrony i dla zrozumienia
taoistycznej myśli filozoficznej poprzez nasze własne ciało.

A teraz chciałbym podzielić się z wami krótkim wierszem wielkiego
tajwańskiego mistrza kaligrafii z ubiegłego wieku, Yu Yourena (1879-1964):
słodka rosa i delikatny wietrzyk.”
i delikatny wietrzyk, w stanie świadomości ciała i duchowej wrażliwości.

klasyczne yang taiji w polsce
Taiji quan trafiło do Polski w latach
siedemdziesiątych XX wieku, niemniej aż do
początku transformacji ustrojowej w latach
dziewięćdziesiątych było dyscypliną bardzo
niszową, znaną nielicznym, chociażby tylko
z nazwy. Po 1990, otwarcie Polski na Zachód
i Daleki Wschód sprawiło, że liczba nauczycieli
i adeptów taiji różnych stylów zaczęła dość
taiji.
taiji z jej sprawdzonymi metodami progresywnego dyscyplinowania ciała,
umysłu i ducha.
wsparcie merytoryczne mistrzów szóstej i siódmej generacji Starego Stylu
stowarzyszenia, a w szczególności Marianne Plouvier i Jacquesa Cochet,
Cieszy nas dostrzeżenie tych aspektów i objęcie patronatem honorowym
naszegoFestiwaluprzezMarszałkaWojewództwaOpolskiegoorazStarostę
Powiatu Brzeskiego.
pierwszego kontaktu z Polską, jej bogatą historią i kulturą.
zdrowego ruchu. Jednym z tych światłych propagatorów był Wojciech
Oczko (1537- 1599), nadworny lekarz trzech królów polskich: Zygmunta
i Zachodu, nasza Fundacja Dantian, z jej mottem „Energia świadomego
ruchu”, propaguje walory regularnego treningu klasycznego taiji.
