The Indian stock markets ended higher led by gains in Asian markets. The BSE Sensex rose 434 points to 19,697 and the NSE Nifty rose 126 points to close at 5,911. Most sectors gained led by capital goods, automobiles, and banks. Globally, US stocks rose as concerns over a government shutdown eased. Commodity prices were mixed with crude oil rising over 2% while gold and silver also closed higher. The rupee weakened slightly against the dollar.
