because the Atomic Energy Commission was abolished,
and the Energy Reorganization Act, which replaced it, did
not solve all the energy problems during the 70s.
b. The department of energy deals with nuclear waste,
energy use, reduction of foreign oil dependence, etc.
c. Office of Nuclear Energy– Support nuclear energy
programs.
• Office of Science- Supports research on basic physical
science.
• Office of Environmental Management - Lessen the risks
and hazards caused by nuclear weapon production and
research.
