2. Introduction
This task will see me looking at several movie posters that are
within the same genre as our teaser trailer production. A
poster is a print form of media, often used to advertise a
product from an organisation, and uses a mixture of text and
imagery to inform the individual on what this product
contains. The main overall purposes are to promote, as well as
the prior mentioned inform. A poster would typically contain
less text than an advertisement, because the aim is to get as
much information to the audience across in as little time as
possible. This task will specifically allow me to find what are
the common themes between several posters, which will then
allow me to apply them to my own poster in the near future.
5. Conclusion
Although there are subtle differences between the posters, it
is clear to see that there are some conventions that do stick
for the drama genre. One of these is that each poster features
the main character(s), most likely as a means of attracting the
audience to the film. Big stars have immense appeal to those
who follow their favourite celebrity, and so the production
company benefits. The faces are of a serious expression,
which represents the drama genre. Both posters also include a
tagline, which, if used appropriately, can be a very effective
way of grabbing the audience’s attention without them
reading too much text. It is therefore clear to see that there
are many conventions that can be followed in order to make a
successful poster for the drama genre.
