Asian Elephants	 By   Daniel
APPEARANCE Adult Asian Elephants weigh the same as 50 people. Elephants have big gray bodies and long teeth called tusks.
Asian Elephants are smaller than their cousins the African Elephants. An Asian elephant weighs about 13250 pounds. Appearance
Asian Elephants can live up to 60 years but most don’t live that long. A baby Asian Elephant is called a calf. Life cycles
Habitat Asian Elephants live in tropical forests. Elephants live  in forests but they are being  cut  down.
Diet Elephants eat fruit bark, crops and leaves. Adult elephants  eat  up  to 300 pounds a day.
diet Elephants eat the same weight as 600 loaves of bread a day. Elephants drink from lakes or rivers.
Conservation 100 years ago there were 100,000 Elephants in the wild. Now, there are about 30,000 left. If people keep buying canned Elephants’ meat , they are more likely to be extinct.
Habitat Over half of the Asian Elephants live in India, but they also live in other parts of Asia.
Interesting facts Some people think it is wrong to keep elephants in the circus because they are almost extinct and they are almost gone in the wild and so many are captive.
 BEHAVIOUR Males are known to fight over females during the breeding season.  They mostly hit each other  and stab them with there tusks.  They also hurt each one with there trucks.
        Asian Elephant Asian and African Elephants differences The African elephant has two fingers on it’s trunk.   The Asian Elephants have one finger on there trunk.  The Asian elephant has two less ribs then the African elephant because the African elephant has 21 and the Asian elephant has 19.
males Females Female and male differences The males sometimes do not have tusks. Most of the time they have them. If the females have tusks you cannot see them unless they open there moth.  Most of the time they don’t have them.
