2. Status of On-going Projects
Ten separate projects comprise the
County’s effort to improve levee readiness
Levee readiness efforts are a collaborative
effort of the Levee Improvement Districts,
the FBFMA, Fort Bend County and local
cities
The goal is to make significant progress in
readiness during 2013

3. Project 1: LID Contact Database
OEM has developed
contact distribution
lists for LID Board
Members, LID
Engineers, LID
Operators, and LID
Attorneys.
OEM will keep database
updated
Project is complete.

4. Project 2: New Gauge
Drainage District has held
multiple meetings with a
variety of entities to determine
feasibility of locating a new
gauge on Brazos River.
A gauge on FM 1458 appears to
be best option.
Financial options being
reviewed; project about 75%
complete.

5. Project 3: Internet Portal
Creation of a website
to be a portal for FBC
Flood Warning
Information is under
development.
“Proof of Concept” site
is being built by County
I.T. Department.
This project is about
50% complete.

6. Project 4: Emergency Action Plan Template
County staff created an EAP
template for use by LIDs
Intent is the template is a
“guide” that can be used by
LIDs as they create their
own individualized EAPs
Guide was sent out in late
2012
Project is complete.

7. Project 5: LID Emergency Action Plans
Each LID needs to
develop its own
Emergency Action Plan.
Some LIDs are well on
their way to creating
Emergency Action Plan.
It is estimated that this
project is only about
10% complete.

8. Project 6: Flood Fight Training
Initial Flood Fight Training
session will be held on
February 26, 2013, hosted by
Drainage District
Over 60 persons have
registered for the training
session
Speaker is George Sills, retired
engineer with 36 years’
experience with US Army Corps
of Engineers
Project is 90% complete.

9. Project 7: Resource Issues
Specific issues about resources
need to be addressed
Initial discussion about
resources held on October 3,
2012
Following completion of LID
EAPS more discussion can occur
Mark Vogler and Marc Grant are

10. Project 8: Update County EOP
This project involves
updating Annex K of the
County’s Emergency
Operations Plan
Information from LID EAPs
will be used to assist in
developing a County-wide
plan for levee emergencies

10% complete at this time

11. Project 9: Exercises / Workshops
Workshop being held on
February 12, 2013
In May or June 2013, a
Tabletop Exercise will
be held to test LID
Emergency Action Plans

12. Project 10: LID Readiness Program
OEM would like to develop an
annual program where each LID
would complete certain
preparedness task to ensure
readiness for a levee
emergency
This would be similar to the
County’s MUD Readiness
Program

This project has not been
started.
