So...what is FAST.Q?
• FAST.Q is an anonymous feedback system,
  – this is key to adoption;
• to be used by students during lectures.
• Accessed via phones, laptops or other smart
  devices.

• Only useful for answering predetermined
  questions, or gauging opinion.
So...how does it work?

So...why FAST.Q?
• As lecturers it is often difficult to get students
  to engage or ask questions.
• FAST.Q’s anonymity helps prevent students
  feeling embarrassed asking questions.
• Allows the lecturer to actively reiterate points
  during the lecture that students might have
  problems with.
   – Highlighted by the FAST.Q system.
So...is it open to abuse?

• Anonymity has drawbacks also:
  – Disinhibition.
• If there is no monitoring, people will
  inevitably abuse the system
  – Posting inappropriate comments, etc.
• We use OAuth to help reduce the disinhibition
  affect.
So...OAuth!




• OAuth is used to restrict modules accessible.
• Give the notion that if people abuse the system
  it is logged.
So...OAuth!
So… What are FAST.Q’s
              Objectives?
• To improve student engagement
  – By allowing students to ask questions.
• To allow the lecturer to gauge student
  understanding of lecture content.
  – By collation of questions pertaining to lecture
    content.
• To compare success of cohorts feedback and
  questions over successive years.
