Born in Tehran in 1948, Farhad Hakimzadeh grew up within a prominent industrialist family. Leaving Iran at age nine, Mr. Hakimzadeh undertook his primary education in Germany. He relocated to the United States in 1967 to pursue secondary studies. From 1967 to 1971 Farhad Hakimzadeh attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) receiving degrees in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Management. He spent one year as an MIT student, working with international experts in a project called Limits to Growth. Mr. Hakimzadeh employed long-range forecasting techniques to estimate the effects of population growth on resource availability and environmental degradation.
