About These Instructions
General
The PCM600 Ver.2.4 and later and the 650 series ConnPack Ver.1.2.1 or later are
supporting migration from 650 Ver.1.0 via 650 Ver.1.1 via 650 Ver.1.2 (1.2.0 and
1.2.1) to 650 Ver. 1.3. However, due to changes in functionality of functions re-
engineering is necessary.
This document only covers the migration between the four 650 series product
versions in PCM600 Ver.2.4 (or later). For 650 Ver. 1.3, PCM600 Ver. 2.5 or later is
needed.
Use of Warning, Caution, Information, and Tip Icons
This publication includes Warning, Caution, and Information where appropriate to
point out safety related or other important information. It also includes Tips to point
out useful hints to the reader. The corresponding symbols should be interpreted as
follows:
Caution icon indicates important information or warning related to the
concept discussed in the text. It might indicate the presence of a hazard,
which could result in corruption of software or damage to
equipment/property.
Information icon alerts the reader to pertinent facts and conditions.
Tip icon indicates advice on, for example, how to design your project or how
to use a certain function
Although Warning hazards are related to personal injury, and Caution hazards are
associated with equipment or property damage, it should be understood that
operation of damaged equipment could, under certain operational conditions, result
in degraded process performance leading to personal injury or death. Therefore,
comply fully with all Warning and Caution notices.

Configuration Migration
User Manual
1. Introduction
1.1 General overview
The actual migration is done by the ICM (IED Configuration Migration) in PCM. This
document however describes the whole workflow to be able to upgrade your
complete configuration. I.e. it covers the necessary updates in tools such as ACT,
PST and GDE.
Several functions have changed version between product versions which also implies
that there are underlying functional changes between the function versions. The user
should make sure that the new function versions in the updated product fulfill hers
requirements. The user should be extra careful before replacing functions, signals or
parameters that were removed at migration.
2. Procedure to Migrate
2.1 Export and import of project and installation
Before starting the migration ensure that correct version of PCM600 and ABB 650
Connectivity Package Base are installed.
It is also recommended to export one copy of the project as backup.
1. Make an export of the project you want to migrate by selecting Open/Manage project:
and then mark your project you would like to export and click Export Project.

The exported is valuable to use as a backup since migration process is not reversible.
2. Unistall previous versions of ConnPack (for 650 in PCM600 Ver.2.x) and ALL IED
type data modules.
3. Verify that the folder where the ConnPack was installed is empty (C:Program
FilesABBConnectivity PackagesIEDConnPackRE_650). If not, delete remaining
files.
4. Install the recommended versions of PCM600 and ConnPack.
5. Install the IED Type Data modules to migrate from and to (e.g. ABB REL650 1.2.1
Module and ABB REL650 1.3 Module).
6. Open PCM600.
7. Select Open/Manage project
8. Import the Exported project by browsing to your project and click open.

9. The imported project will now be listed in the list of projects on my computer
2.2 Reference Project
At migration will some functions, signals or parameters be removed and needs to be
reengineered. It is helpful to use an unchanged copy of the original project as a
reference when making these updates.
1. Open a second instance of PCM600.
2. Follow the steps 7-8 in section 2.1 to import the project once again.
3. In addition to the original project name will (1) added to the project name at import (to
distinguish it from the already imported project).
4. Rename the project adding _ref in the end.
5. Open the project [project name]_ref
6. Go back to the first instance of PCM600 (where the first project was opened).
This reference project can be left open in background for examining original
configuration at the reengineering of the migrated IEDs since the migration reports
not give you the details of all changes. All further instructions in this guide refer to the
project to migrate. The reference project should not be changed.

3. When migrating a configuration from 650 series 1.1 to 1.3 it is necessary perform the
following steps;
a. Migrate 1.1 to version 1.2.1.
b. Change the housing and LHMI to 3U and COM02 to COM05
c. Migrate 1.2.1 to 1.3
4. A summary of the migration will show up.
The list is divided into three different parts:
Obsolete Functions and Hardwares This part lists all the functions that not will be
able to migrate, i.e. the corresponding function blocks will be removed from
configuration.
Versioned Functions and Hardwares This part lists all functions that have been
replaced for you in the configuration (migrated to a new function version).
Functions instance is changed due to change in creation rule This part lists the
functions that e.g. have changed execution order or application cycle, but the function
version is same between the two product versions. Further information about the
migration of these functions will appear in log window after migration.
The functions that are not mentioned in one of the above lists have the same version in both
products. No reengineering is necessary for those functions.

7. A Dialog will show up with the functions that will have migrated parameters. Press
forward to continue
8. At the end will a dialog confirm that the migration is completed:
9. The log window will contain valuable information from three different parts of the
migration:
Implications of Execution order changes gives information about functions
that have changed execution order which will affect the data flow in the IED.
Non migrated parameters will be printed as warnings. Later on these
parameters need to be updated manually.
Non migrated 61850 signals from datasets will also be displayed in the
output window.

Warning if the maximum number of attributes is reached in the migrated
datasets
10. Copy and save all the output in the log window from the migration. Also check for any
exceptions or errors.
11. Now after the migration you have to run the Licence update tool either online towards
the IED or in offline mode with the licence file. This must be done to get some IED
functions with configuration parameters only back into the IED configuration section in
the plant structure. Some of these functions are part of the fixed instances (found
under IED configuration in plant structure) and these functions will be instantiated
automatically (e.g. for the dnp functions), but their parameters will be reversed to
default values.
3. Reengineering
This section describes necessary reengineering after the migration.
3.1 ACT
1. Open ACT
2. Look up in table of Appendix 4.1 which signals and functions that are removed in your
configuration. If a signal has been removed it indicates that the particular signal has a
new functional meaning. For those functions, study the application manual and
technical reference manual to ensure how they are connected in the correct way.
3. Update the configuration for the function listed in Appendix 4.1.
4. When done with the function updates. Save the ACT configuration
5. Run Validate Configuration.
6. Examine the report in the log window and perform necessary updates.
7. Save ACT again and exit.

3.2 PST
Parameter values are retained for all functions listed in Versioned Functions and
Hardwares or Functions instance is changed due to change in creation rule. Also
functions that are not mentioned in the migration report (functions that has same version in
both product versions) will keep their settings.
1. Settings for all functions listed in Obsolete Functions and Hardwares needs to be
redone.
2. If any parameter migration failed (see the log window from the migration) the
parameters needs to be redone (see step 9 and 10 of section 2.3).
3. Further, note that some functions might have new settings.
3.3 SCL/61850
The 61850 configuration is retained at migration for all unchanged Data Attributes.
1. SCL Engineering of DAs with changed names, or from LNs or DOs with changed
name are excluded. These signals are listed in the log window at migration. (see step
9 and 10 of section 2.3)
2. It is therefore necessary to export the scd file again and redo the SCL engineering for
the DAs removed at migration. Note, these signals/DOs/LNs has changed name,
verify therefore with documentation that your 61850 configuration is valid.
3. Verify in the SCD file that there are no empty data sets. If there are empty data sets,
either add signals or remove the data set.
4. Import the SCD file when the engineering is done.
5. Open SMT and check connections. Please note, also other IEDs (updated or not
updated) need update of incoming GOOSE signals from migrated IEDs in SMT.
3.4 CMT
If DNP is to be used, update of configured DNP points is necessary. All DNP points from
versioned functions (migrated functions) will be removed from configuration.
1. Open CMT.
2. In the signal list will some of the previously configured DNP points be struck through.
See picture below.
3. Mark the corresponding signals from the struck through signals from the left side.
Press the blue arrow to the right to add them.
4. It is also necessary to update the Index number of the signal (should match the struck
through signal) to be able to use the configuration in the DNP master unchanged.
5. When the update of signals is done, the struck through signals can be removed.

6. Repeat the procedure for all signal types (Analog Input Objects, Binary Input Objects,
Binary Output Objects, Counter Object and Counter Bit Indication Object) and all
configured DNP Masters (Serial and TCP 1- 4).
3.5 GDE
1. Open GDE
2. All mappings to functions that have been manually reinstantiated in ACT (i.e. mapped
functions that were in the Obsolete Functions and Hardware list of the ICM report)
needs to be redone.
3.6 Signal Matrix
All connections between hardware and software functions needs to be remade for
obsolete functions and also if a signal connected to hardware of a replaced function
has been removed of changed meaning. If any of the functions in Appendix 4.1 has
been used directly to hardware verify and update the configuration.
3.7 Performances, Fine Tuning and Optimizations
A maximum response time of 120 seconds per IED is expected when the ICM is
invoked by the PCM600 user.
