Climate action begins at home. Parliaments and those who work in them can take concrete steps to reduce their carbon footprint, both as institutions and individuals. By adopting greener policies and embracing a culture of sustainability, parliaments and parliamentarians can help address the climate crisis and pave the way for stronger climate action. The IPU Secretariat has identified 10 key actions parliaments and parliamentarians can consider as they embark on the greening process, or to complement existing greening initiatives. These actions cover three categories: institutionalizing the greening of parliament, greening the way parliaments and their members work, and leading and fostering a culture of sustainable change. While a wide range of options to become greener exists and will continue to evolve with time, these 10 actions provide concrete entry points for more sustainable parliaments that lead by example when it comes to climate action.

Environmental responsibility refers to the ethical and moral duty of individuals, organizations, and society as a whole to protect and preserve the natural environment. It involves recognizing the impact of human activities on the environment and taking proactive measures to mitigate harmful effects and promote sustainable practices. Here are some key points to discuss regarding environmental responsibility: Awareness and Education: Environmental responsibility begins with raising awareness about environmental issues and educating individuals and communities about the importance of environmental conservation. This includes understanding the interconnectedness of ecosystems, the impact of pollution and resource depletion, and the need for sustainable development. Conservation of Natural Resources: Being environmentally responsible entails using natural resources wisely and conserving them for future generations. This includes promoting practices such as responsible water usage, energy conservation, recycling, and minimizing waste generation. By reducing resource consumption, we can minimize our ecological footprint and promote sustainable living. Pollution Prevention: Environmental responsibility involves actively working to prevent pollution and reduce harmful emissions. This can be achieved through adopting cleaner technologies, implementing effective waste management systems, and adhering to environmentally friendly practices in industries and everyday life. Efforts should focus on reducing air pollution, water pollution, and soil contamination to protect ecosystems and human health. Biodiversity Conservation: Preserving biodiversity is a crucial aspect of environmental responsibility. This involves protecting natural habitats, supporting conservation efforts for endangered species, and promoting sustainable land use practices. Maintaining biodiversity ensures ecological balance, enhances ecosystem resilience, and provides essential ecosystem services that support human well-being. Sustainable Practices: An environmentally responsible approach involves adopting sustainable practices in various sectors, including agriculture, forestry, transportation, and manufacturing. This can include using renewable energy sources, implementing eco-friendly technologies, promoting sustainable agriculture, and supporting responsible supply chains. Sustainable practices aim to minimize environmental impact while ensuring social and economic well-being. Collaboration and Advocacy: Environmental responsibility requires collaboration among governments, businesses, communities, and individuals. It involves advocating for policies and initiatives that promote environmental protection and sustainability. This can include supporting environmental organizations, participating in community-based conservation projects, and engaging in advocacy efforts to raise awareness and drive positive change. Corporate Social Responsibility: Businesses have a significant role to

Going Green: Going Green via Distance Learning Sponsored & Hosted by: Wimba, Inc. (http://www.wimba.com/) This webinar will explore a broad range of issues related to going green via distance learning. With gasoline prices still uncomfortably high, more and more students and business professionals are looking to Distance Learning to continue their education. According to the New York Times, colleges from Massachusetts and Florida to Texas and Oregon have reported significant increases in online enrollment. And with no relief in sight for fuel prices, this increase is likely to continue. Specific areas of interest may focus on how organizations are using distance learning to lead much greener and more productive environment globally.

Running head: HOW STARBUCKS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS INITIATIVE HAS IMPACTED ON SALES 1 HOW STARBUCKS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS INITIATIVE HAS IMPACTED ON SALES4 How Starbucks Environmental Awareness Initiative has impacted on Sales Name Institution How Starbucks environmental awareness initiative has impacted on sales This is an environmental initiative that has put into place environmental sustainability by examining the life cycle of products and that supports management practices of green supply across a region(Schultz, 2015).Recycling is the baseline of the initiative. The following are the impacts of the environmental awareness on sales; To begin with, the green building strategy helps to condition and adjust the temperatures of rooms store rooms helps ensure that products do not go bad when the temperatures have raised too high or gone too low(Schultz, 2015). The materials used are also aid in the adjustment of the temperatures (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2015). As a result, more sales will be made thus raising the profit margins eventually In addition, since a great focus is on the creation of “green” stores, it has been able to achieve reduction of the operating costs hereby increasing productivity and profitability (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2015). This is because the business practices in the company advocates sustainability of the natural resources. Moreover, customer loyalty can be felt greatly since they would prefer visiting eco-friendly environments and businesses since most people love` going-green’(University of San Francisco Online, 2015). This too would raise the sales and the profit margins as well. This is because customers will always give do business with companies that fully satisfy their expectations, needs and wants as well. Finally, the implementation of sustainability practices has the capability of eliminating wastes and generating cost savings. This will definitely attract more sales.Itoften leads to better and greater bottom lines. For instance, in most cases, Starbucks considers the best solutions. For example, the use biodegradable materials are preferred as opposed to using plastics that are non-biodegradable (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2015). For instance, most customers here consider using paper cups since they care about the environment. REFERENCES Schultz, H. (2015).
