A Common Mistake every New Website Owner Makes
Do you Know? Reading this Post will take around 2 minute
Are you getting your business website or blog ready? You need to seriously read this to avoid mistakes that lot of
people make.
Beginners usually fail in figuring out what they actually need. People waste lot of time ‘fine-tuning’ everything. Zero
Error Syndrome is a common tendency.
When you are launching a new idea, the most important aspect is to get the wheel rolling as soon as possible so that
you start generating revenue.
It is better to start doing your business 10 days earlier with a basic website instead of coming up with an exceptionally
good design months later. You don’t really need a tremendous design to attract customers and it is true for 99% of
the businesses.
A good design may carry more weight if you are a web design firm but for other businesses, an ordinary design
should suffice in start.
95% of my clients waste additional time on website design.
Even if you have a good designer at disposal, there is no requirement to fine-tune every possible design aspect. Your
website design will undergo lot of changes during the journey so no need to put so much effort and resources to
finalize everything.
What you are considering as final may not fit your thoughts after some time. I will explain this concept with one of my
personal experience.
I started a blog on education 2 years ago. I spent around a month finalizing the design. Tried numerous social
share buttons and other WordPress plugins. I did lot of deliberation on each and every page of the blog. I spent 4
hours just to finalize on background color of contact form button.
I was stupid…You know why?
After having spent so much time, I came across a premium theme which was way more good looking than what I had
designed. I bought it. Which means, all the time I spent went in vain!
It would have been much better if I had spent all that one month writing content.
So the conclusion is, you don’t really know what is coming ahead. Settle on a minimum viable product with regards
to design and focus more on bringing value to your customers or target audience.
When your business is out of the initial phase and you are making good revenue, you can always upgrade your
design.
I saw many of my clients making this mistake so I wanted to write it down. Let me know what you think about it.
