The half-dozen women-led startup companies that each received $50,000 in January to take part in
Prosper Women Entrepreneurs' first-ever accelerator class took the stage at Washington University
Wednesday to pitch their businesses.
It was Prosper's demo day, where the entrepreneurs got to pitch to potential investors and business
partners. But it also gave each of them a chance to update the community on how they've
progressed since joining the Prosper network a few months ago.
Here's the full list of companies that pitched on Wednesday and their latest news:
KiteReaders (Santa Clara, California): Led by co-founder Aarti Parikh, KiteReaders designs, develops
and distributes e-books and apps for children ages 3 to 8. New: KiteReaders has already experienced
1 million downloads of its app and this month will deliver a Disney's Frozen-branded e-book for kids.
2. Wondermento (St. Louis): Led by founder and CEO Betsy Fore, Wondermento is building a new way
to track your dog's activity (called Wonderwoof) and to know what they are up to at all times
digitally and through their hardware design. New: Wondermento will soon launch WonderWhisker --
a cat version of its tracking technology -- but also begin focusing on becoming more of a women's
lifestyle brand.
Bookalokal (New York): Led by co-founder Evelyne White, Bookalokal is a marketplace for food
entrepreneurs to list their services available for sale (out of their home) and to connect with
customers looking for a unique dining experience. New: Bookalokal had already been live in Brussels
and Washington, D.C. On May 1, the company will open a Boston market.
