Preparing for Placement – 120 - 150 minutesThis resource contains all the support material that is needed to deliver each workshop. Included is a PowerPoint presentation, which gives concise bullet points as prompts for lecturers to expand on in their delivery of the material, a detailed student handout, and material for the tasks or suggestions for the tasks. The tasks are provided as stand-alone documents or embedded in the PowerPoint presentations or at the end of the handouts.<br />The timing for the workshops is based on using the materials supplied with groups of up to 25 students. For larger groups the time will need to be adjusted accordingly.<br />Working in Groups<br />The room should be suitable for students to be seated in groups of up to five people.<br />Technical Report Writing<br />Room layout is not important.<br />Oral Presentations<br />The room should be suitable for students to be seated in groups of up to five people.<br />Sourcing Material and Writing a Literature Review<br />The room should have sufficient computers for all the students to have an opportunity to use databases to source material.
