3. BACKGROUND OF BUSINESS
D.Bushey Taxidermy has been in business for two years now.
●
Bushey got his start at Northern Vermont White Tail Taxidermy School after he finished his
●
degree at Paul Smiths College.
“ I have always had an interest in the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. I
graduated college and could not find work at the time so I decided to
learn the art of Taxidermy. I went to Northern Vermont White Tail
Taxidermy School and was trained one on one by the instructor.”-

lined up. He decided that taking this course would give him more time to find a job
in his field and be able to start making money on the side.
“Seriously though, I enjoy doing it and can't think of anything better
than getting paid to do something I enjoy.” –David Bushey

●D.Bushey Taxidermy is still a small and upcoming
company and wishes to expand once he gets his own
place.
“I plan on staying in business and my
future goal is to run a part time
taxidermy shop to compliment my job
with the U.S. fish and wildlife service.”
-David Bushey
6. Company's Mission Statement
“ My goal is to produce mounts of the
highest quality. To achieve this I will be
using the best materials available and I
will not take any short cuts while preparing
each and every mount.”
7. Challenges
● Being a taxidermist is a seasonal job and has many
different steps in the process which takes a few months
to complete.
● D.Bushey Taxidermy focuses on getting people their
product back in a timely manner. “This is the most
challenging because most of the work comes in during a
couple of months and everyone wants it back as fast as
possible. I hold myself strictly to the policy of first come
first serve so that no one has to wait any longer that its
fair to make them wait.”
8. Overcoming the Challenges
“I have over come this challenge by having two jobs. I
work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife in the summer and do
taxidermy in the winter. They compliment each other
because of the seasonal work I have with the Fish and
Wildlife. I am able to only take in enough work for 6
months. This means I can still achieve the quality I
want, make enough money, and still have a turn around
time that is acceptable for everyone”

Do you wish you could have a bigger and more
successful business?
“I already find my business to be successful because
people love their mounts and tell their friends about the
great work that I do. Word of mouth is a great way to
advertise your business and plus its free.”
12. Advice to the Class
“If you want something in life you're going to have to go
out and take it. No one is going to give you anything
worth wanting. Also remember that money is not
everything but it is something, so you might as well find
something you like to do that someone will pay you for.”
-David Bushey
13. The end
● “I went out and did
something I love. I
turned my hobby into a
job and now I get paid to
do what I love. Life
cannot get any better
than that. My final advice
is that you guys do the
same.”-David Bushey
