2. What is Tekken?
A series of fighting video games developed and published by
Namco. Originally an arcade game, versions exist for the
PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3,
Xbox 360 and Game Boy Advance.
The amount of consoles you can play on it reveals how
popular it is and how it is making the most of its marketing by
being widely available on consoles.
Tekken is one of the most popular fighting games of all time.
It is also one of the early games that could be played at home
for multiplayers. It has been adapted in both animated and
live action movies.
It is a household name that has brought competitive fighters
to the masses and its success is beyond comparison to nearly
any game in its genre.
3. History of Tekken
• In 1994, the original Tekken game hit
Japanese arcades like an atomic bomb. It
wasn’t until 1996 however, that
Americans were able to fill their local
arcades to experience it. The game
featured many different characters and
fighting styles from various parts of the
world.
• In 1995, the game made its appearance
on the then new PlayStation
entertainment system.
• The story lines and links between the
characters were very interesting to
young consumers and developed over
many series.
• Tekken became the first PlayStation
game to sell more than one million
copies.
• Each Tekken has better graphics every
time and gives the game more and more
realism.

4. Advertising
• Tekken is widely available on every console and therefore is
much more likely to be purchased by customers.
• It doesn't involve much swearing but is still violent so the
audience are 12+
• The ways in which it is advertised include:
• Posters in game magazines
• Internet advertising
• Demo is available to play on other games namco has produced.
this helps get consumers to buy it if they enjoy the demo.
• One other major way Tekken advertises is through word of
mouth, everyone knows Tekken has been around for a long
time and has developed its game each time to make it bigger
and better and not once has it failed to impress, consumers

5. Reviews
• No one knew how fans would respond to this dramatically more complex
game-play. Despite these changes, Tekken 3 emerged as one of the biggest
games of the year. Fans applauded the added depth and game-play, as well as
the vastly improved character models and environments. Critics praised the
game almost universally. It is with Tekken 3 that most would agree the
biggest evolution of the game took place. There were not half as many
returning characters as there were in Tekken 2.
• TEKKEN 6 ‘Dark Resurrection’ arrives on the PSP. An all-new intro movie lets
you dive into the midst of the world of TEKKEN, this time with ad-hoc
multiplayer mode to fight against friends as well as more items to customize
your favourite characters. The beauty of TEKKEN is re-created on the
handheld console, delivering one of the most realistic graphics on a handheld
platform. A variety of destructible objects pump up the action on 19 stages.
Play as one of over 30. New characters Lili and Dragunov join the classic cast
with all-new fight styles and moves. Collecting victories to lead your
character to become king rewards you with ending movies for each character.
Use your fight money to customize your characters – with more than double
the items seen in TEKKEN 5. Using Wi-Fi connectivity of the PSP platform, you
can battle against your friends – take your customized, original character
against theirs and let the battle unfold. Mini-games provide a little breather
from heart-pumping fighting action for more fun against friends.
6. Audience
• People that may be attracted
to the new Tekken would be
the mainstreamers because its
a well known game that has
been around for a long time
and doesn't have any major
negative connotations or
stories attached to the game.
Parents would buy it for their
children and even play with
them on multiplayer.
• With in the game Fighters
from Japan, Ireland, Mexico,
America and more are all put
together for you to chose who
you want to play as. This gave a
global appeal to many people
because they could play with
characters from the same
culture as there own as well as
exploring the techniques of
fighting from other cultures.
