1. Introduction The project that I worked on was the creation of a music video, Album cover and magazine advert, in which I worked with Kate Lydon, Jessica Sergeant and Vicky Wright. My particular contributions in this project were editing, filming and the creation of the magazine advert and back cover of the CD.

2. Genre Music Video The song that we have chosen to use in our music video falls in the acoustic genre. There is no hybridity within the track because of the fact that it is just an artist singing with a guitar using no sound effects to link with another genre. The typical conventions of an acoustic music video usually use similar elements, although some can break typical conventions. In our music video we have used some conventions from others that we have researched, these are “waiting” by City and colour and “Droplets” by Jason Reeves. From these two videos we have used the ideas of using black and white clips and having a performance in our video. In our video we used a linear narrative. Using typical elements in our video was very important because it gives the target audience something that they can relate to and be able to understand the meaning of the song from the artist’s perspective.

3. Trying something new in music videos can cause some controversy sometimes to the fans because they are not used of seeing different things. In our video we decided to use black and white memories in slow motion through the artist’s eyes and perspective. This worked particularly well in our music video because it challenged typical conventions yet worked very well with the song and the lyrics. Through our audience feedback, we have found that the choices that we have made throughout the video have worked effectively. Below are some examples of people’s feedback. Our innovations were likely to prove successful because we researched other well known similar artists to gather ideas and create our own based on their choices.

4. Genre Ancillary Tasks The conventions of our Album are quite traditional, this is because we want the audience to know directly from seeing it who the artist is and when the album will be released. The conventions of a typical advert and album that we used are: -Dark coloured text-The artists name and name of the album -Image of the artist -Release date for the albumThe conventions that we used to follow the genre of music was ;- The background of the artist which showed bricks, this is also shown on the album cover aswel as the advert- The artist wearing suitable clothes to match the genre- Dark contrast on the artists photo to match the style of music
