The Two series: Part 2 - Bruce McCallum - 9 February 2020
1.
2. Matthew 7:24-28 (NIV)
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and
puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his
house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose,
and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did
not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But
everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put
them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house
on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the
winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a
great crash." 28 When Jesus had finished saying these
things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching
3. Matthew 7:24-28 (MSG)
2"These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to
your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of
living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on.
If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart
carpenter who built his house on solid rock. 25 Rain poured
down, the river flooded, a tornado hit - but nothing moved
that house. It was fixed to the rock.26 "But if you just use my
words in Bible studies and don't work them into your life,
you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the
sandy beach.27 When a storm rolled in and the waves came
up, it collapsed like a house of cards."28 When Jesus
concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They
had never heard teaching like this.
5. “hears these words of mine and puts them into practice”
26 "But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don't
work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who
built his house on the sandy beach.

Logos and Rhema
• LOGOS - general or written Word of God
• RHEMA - the specific Word of God or the utterance of His
Spirit within you
7. 4 KEYS TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE
Habakkuk 2:1-2 (NIV)
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what He will say to me, and what answer I
am to give to this complaint. 2 Then the LORD replied: "Write
down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a
herald may run with it.”

a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.38
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of
living water will flow from within him."
John 15:5 (NIV)
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and
I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do
nothing.”
10. Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but
Christ lives in me. …
"I don't stand alone - someone else flows through me.

awe, peace.
• When embraced - strength and joy.
