Interactive Powerpoint_How to Master effective communication
Question 2 - elle
1. How does your media product
represent particular social
groups?
EVALUATION QUESTION 2:
2. • Our two minute opening both conforms
with and challenges female stereotypes;
that women are innocent, weak,
emotional and vulnerable.
• Therefore we wanted our two characters
to have as many noticeable differences
as possible.
3. • We have the victim who is perceived as vulnerable, placid and
weak. To create this representation we made the decision that the
victims hands be in her pockets in the shot where she walks past
Starbucks because from our research we found that this is nervous
body language.
As you can see, the victim is also dressed
in plain dark clothing – which is typical
clothing to represent the ‘teenage’ social
group.
She has light hair to convey brightness,
innocence and purity. Whereas her
perpetrator is not only dressed in dark
clothing in the dark room scenes but also
has dark hair, showing her sinister nature.
However in Starbucks she wears white,
usually representing purity this shows that
she has multiple personalities.
4. • Our protagonist on the other hand is the opposite,
her body language is extrovert and has more open
posture to portray her contrasting confidence,
stronger more domineering character.
5. • The age range is between 16 and 20. The victim is 16 and
wears plain clothing to show she is a teenager, whereas the
protagonist wears modern clothing and we see her in a trendy
setting ‘Starbucks’. Therefore representing young adults in
general as fashionable, modern and conscious of their
appearance.
• The main character is also presented to the audience as being
middle class due to her expensive possessions; an apple mac,
iPhone and good camera.
