Welcome to the training module on VISHAY ACAS Thin film Chip Resistor Array Family. This training module will present an overview of the ACAS thin film chip resistor array family. The basic electric parameters of the ACAS family will be discussed as well as current applications.
The ACAS family is available in 0612 sizes. Four resistors are integrated on one substrate which reduces board space by more than 40 % space using 0612 size compared to four single 0603 resistors. Equal resistor values or different resistors can be realized providing accurate and stable behavior. The ACAS family is divided into three series: the professional ACAS, the precision ACAS, and the precision AT grade ACAS AT.
ACAS 0612 professional resistor arrays combine the proven reliability of precision MFC products with the advantages of chip arrays. The professional ACAS 0612 series offers an absolute tolerance down to 0.5 % and an absolute temperature coefficient of resistance down to 25 ppm/K. Resistor values can be chosen from 47 Ω to 221 kΩ with a resistance ratio up to 10:1. The possibility of tolerance matching and T.C.R. makes this product suitable for applications with outstanding requirements towards stable fixed resistor ratio. A small package enables the design of high density circuits in combination with reduction of assembly cost. Different resistance values can be realized on one substrate.
The precision ACAS 0612 series also offers relative parameters with TCR tracking and tolerance matching. The tightest tolerance matching is ± 0.05 %, and the tightest TCR tracking is ± 5 ppm/K. Resistance values offered with this device range from 47 Ω to 221 kΩ with a standard resistance ratio up to 5:1.
ACAS 0612 Automotive thin chip resistor arrays with convex terminations combine the proven reliability of discrete automotive chip resistors with the advantages of chip resistor arrays. The precision AT grade series ACAS 0612 AT is qualified according to AEC-Q200 standard. This series is optimized to meet new automotive industry requirements including a maximum film temperature of +155 °C and a 1000V ESD rating. They also offer high temperature cycling and stable performance for industrial, telecommunications, and consumer electronics applications. The ACAS 0612 AT series is offered with resistance values from 47 Ω to 150 kΩ and a maximum resistance ratio of 20:1.
The stability and accuracy over time and temperature of the ACAS family makes it ideally suited for precision voltage dividers, feedback circuits, and converter applications. Furthermore, these resistor chip arrays are ideal for instrumentation amplifiers and measurement bridge circuits with demanding requirements for stable fixed resistor ratios.
In summary, the ACAS family offers tight tolerances and TCRs in two chip sizes and three series: the professional, the precision, and the precision AT grade. The precision and precision AT grade series also provide tracking and matching properties as relative parameters. The precision AT grade series is qualified according to AEC-Q200, with a maximum film temperature of +155 °C. All devices in the 0612 size provide space savings of approximately 40 % compared to four 0603 resistors. These properties makes the ACAS family ideally suited for a wide range of applications including precision voltage dividers and feedback circuits.
