4. Definitions
 MALTREATMENT SYNDROME: The effects of
physical or psychological abuse on the person
abused.
 ABUSE: mistreatment; harming or injuring
another. It may be single or a repeated act
 Combinations are the RULE: mixed forms
 Violations of human rights / civil rights
 Detailed in ICD 10 and adopted by DSM5
 NOT mental disorders, but may be predisposing,
precipitating or perpetuating factors, or may be
present with mental ds.

11. Violence against women - particularly intimate partner violence
and sexual violence against women - are major public health
problems and violations of women's human rights.
Recent global prevalence figures indicate that 35% of women
worldwide have experienced either intimate partner violence or
non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
On average, 30% of women who have been in a relationship
report that they have experienced some form of physical or sexual
violence by their partner.
Globally, as many as 38% of murders of women are committed
by an intimate partner.

الإساءة اللفظية والتهديد بالعزل، مقاطعته من خلال الصمت، 
حدوث تمرد من المسن.
عدم العناية بنظافة الفراش والملابس، حدوث جفاف 
وعلامات سوء تغذية، عدم العناية بنظافة المنزل والمرحاض
الاستهتار بالتواجد مع المسن في الأسواق والأماكن العامة، 
والمستشفيات إلخ
حدوث تغيير في الحساب المصرفي، الاحتيال أو تزوير 
إمضائه على شيكات أو مستندات للممتلكات، تبديد
مخصصاته الحكومية مثل المعاش، أو مكافأة نهاية الخدمة
ظهور علامات عدم قدرة المسن على العناية بنفسه والقيام 
بالأنشطة اليومية الأساسية، مثل اللبس والطعام والشراب،
