Nov. 2011 Attempt to change SCC event to accessible location
1. Subject: SCC at Precinct? Call it an "inaccessible
social event" then.

Hi Danny,
CAPS has been forwarded SCC's announcement about
the social get-together at the Precinct on Nov. 17 from
5-8, to publicly launch "interactive somerville.com"
But Danny: The Precinct is not accessible for non-stair
users by any standards (even if the elevator is made
available to Precinct patrons after 5 pm.)
Would you consider borrowing one of those
wheelchairs outside the Family Health Center on the
first floor of SCC's building-- to try it out for
yourself?!
2. As you roll from the Subway shoppe to that back
entrance, you'll begin to experience the negative social
and health impact of details that are described
technically like this: "the entrance has a threshold that
is over 1.5 inches at the door. The ground surface is
pitted or hilly and the cross-slopes along that route
range from 3.4% to 6.7%."
Please choose another location- one that offers
integration right at the door.
That "interactive somerville " project looks like
something everyone can enjoy.
Please respond directly- don't send me around the
block again. You're the guy in charge.
Thank you.
