2. English Enhancement Grant Scheme for
Primary Schools (EEGS)
• To strengthen the learning and teaching of English
in school.
• To achieve sustainable effects after the completion
of the Scheme.
• A total amount $480,000 was granted for the
school years 2010/11 – 2011/12.

• In 2002, our school started developing our school-
based English curriculum to better suit our
students’ needs.
• Both teachers and students find the tailor-made e
Learning materials can help to motivate learning
and create a more engaging learning atmosphere.
• With the development of our school-based English
curriculum, it has helped to raise the effectiveness
of learning and teaching. The students of the
school are generally of above average language
competence.

• I’m a News Writer (P.4 students)
• I’m a News Anchor (P.5 students)
5. I’m Creative
• To expose and enrich students to advanced writings, they
will know the features of advanced text types e.g. poem,
comics, story and poster and be able to produce their own
works.
• The programme includes providing students with
experience in:
Reading comics
Reading aloud poems
Performing step-by-step writing tasks
Rewriting endings and beginnings of comics
and poems

7. I’m a News Writer
• To expose and enrich students to news writing, they will
know the features of news articles and will be able to
produce derivative works.
• The programme includes providing students with
experience in:
Reading short news articles
Conducting research on interesting news topics
Performing step-by-step writing tasks from sentence
to whole news articles
Completing editorial tasks including spotting mistakes

9. I’m a News Anchor
• To expose and enrich students to news reporting, they will
know the necessary skills required for a good news
reporter and be able to broadcast news through Campus
TV.
• The programme includes providing students with
experience in:
Practising and reading aloud
Listening to news broadcasts
Performing step-by-step speaking tasks
Commenting on each other’s performance for giving
constructive criticism
