“Have a Good Day”
With many people, the words, “Have a good day,” are said about
as often in leaving as “How do you do?” in greeting.
How is it that we have a good day? Having one is far different
from just reaching and getting it like you pick and choose in the
cafeteria. If it were that simple, I guess everyone would have a good
day every day.
Diligent effort is required on our part to make every day a good
one. “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his
tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile” (I Peter 3:10).
The next verse tells us that doing good is necessary to seeing good
days. That is just simply being Christ-like (Acts 10:38).
Notice in the above verse, refraining the tongue from evil helps to
bring a good day. If you refuse to be injurious with your words, that
makes for good relationships and good days. Speaking no guile also
helps. Do not be deceitful with your lips.
Among all the other things which bring good days, you should
not forget these verses. Here is a good basis for an enjoyable life.

2. New Elders
The church Jesus said, “I will build,” (Matt.
16:18) has been in existence on earth since A.D. 33.
The government He gave it is one where He
continues to rule as the supreme head of the church
(Eph. 1:22-23). As we can see in the New
Testament, there are local congregations. These
local groups are placed under the loving oversight
of men called elders, bishops, presbyters, or pastors.
The elders here at the East Main church of Christ
have been in much prayerful consideration about
the thought of making additions to the existing
eldership.
We would like to put before the congregation
two men for your consideration to be added to the
eldership. We would like for you to consider our
brothers Bobby Joe Lindley and Mark Hitt. We
would like for you to view these men in light of
Titus 1, 2 and 1 Timothy 3.
We will leave this open for your consideration
for two weeks. If there be a reason someone feels
there may be a hindrance for either of these men to
serve competently in this role, we want you to make
your concerns known. If there be no Scriptural
objections, these men will be installed as elders in
two weeks on November 19.

20s and 30s Age Group
The 20s and 30s Age Group are
invited to Wesley & Raleigh Bass’
home this Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6:30
p.m. for a soup & finger food
fellowship. The Bass’ will provide
soup. Everyone else is asked to please bring finger
foods, desserts, or drinks. If you need directions,
please see Wesley & Raleigh.
Visitation Team #2
Visitation Team #2, Ricky Lindsey’s team, will
meet this Sunday, Nov. 12 after evening services in
the multipurpose room. A food list is posted beside
the tract rack in the foyer. This is a new visitation
team for those whose children are recently out of both
youth groups.
Congratulations
Dillard Scribner & Trish Walker were
united in marriage on Nov. 4. We wish
for them many years of happiness. After
the honeymoon, they will be residing for
now with Hugh & Rachel.
Thank You Notes
To the elders & congregation at East Main,
We want to thank you for your thoughts and prayers
during Deena’s battle with cancer and death. While
this time was incredibly difficult, especially coupled
with Darrell’s sickness and his death, your actions
helped so much. We also want to thank you for the
money you sent to go toward her final expenses. We
appreciate so much the feeling of home whenever we
are there. Please continue to remember us in the

Thank you so much for all the thoughtful ways you
have shown your compassion for my family. Your
calls, cards, prayers and flowers were appreciated
greatly. There will be tears of sadness for his family
as they adjust to living without their husband, dad and
granddad. Please continue prayers on their behalf.
There is great peace in knowing Phoenix was a
Christian man that loved our Lord.

22 years that I have been raised in this church. 22
years of high-fives, hugs, Bible lessons and candy
from Mr. Gordon Andrews. 22 years of laughs and
cries, and most importantly 22 years of unconditional,
unwavering love. I cannot begin to thank this
congregation for all the love and support each person
in those pews has shown me. Zac and I are humbled
and blessed to be surrounded by such a wonderful
church family. Thank you all for the wedding gifts,
and the beautiful shower. Please pray for Zac and I as
we begin this exciting new journey together.
