7. Restaurant Design Page 1of 6 For this project I was asked by an investor to develop a concept, location and design for a new restaurant. The Ahi-Wai is an upscale, fine dining establishment located in New York City, in downtown Manhattan. Ahi Wai’s design concept was inspired by the stunning natural beauty of the Polynesian islands dotting the Pacific’s ring of fire. “Ahi-Wai” are the Hawaiian words for fire-water. The thought of active lava flows cutting through tropical forests and then pouring into the ocean sum up the visual theme of this unique restaurant. Upon entering, you are greeted by a grand spiral staircase surrounded by a naturalistic waterfall with fire leaping out between the rock formations. One the main floor, adjacent to the spacious waiting area, a curvaceous flaming copper wall treatment resembles a lava flow pouring from the ceiling into the bar area. Beyond the water feature/staircase is the main floor seating area. The seating wraps around the waterfall and is also set in cozy nooks created by totem pole pergolas with wooden lattice suspended ceilings along the perimeter of the dining room. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, it all imitates the cozy feel of being under a rainforest canopy. As you ascend the spiral staircase to the upper floor, you are taken to another world. The seating is situated in several different sized thatched roof huts hovering over what appears to be the aqua blue ocean water. The wooden boardwalk leads you to your dining hut. The boardwalk then wraps around and leads you from hovering above the ocean to the shore where you will find your final dining experience. There you will find a 20 ft long salt water aquarium filled with marine life, surrounded by tables for a more romantic, quiet, intimate dining experience. The Ahi Wai is the place to escape in New York City, into a tropical paradise with an authentic Polynesian cuisine and atmosphere, where you can find a different dining experience every time you come

16. The Buchanan family has recently moved back in town from California. While there, they fell in love with their Craftsman Bungalow style home and interior. They have managed to find an original bungalow home in Cincinnati. They asked me to choose furniture and finishes for their dining and living rooms. I have chosen a somewhat non-period cool analogous color scheme to help visually open up the small, in today’s standards, space. I have incorporated her Rookwood pottery collection in to the mix of period furnishings to create the updated bungalow of their dreams. Residential Design Dining /Living Rooms

23. Residential – Universal Design Floor Plan Page 1 of 5 Bob and Sherry Marshall are both 46 years old. Their family consists of 3 children; Sherry age 7, Nina age 9, and Thomas age 16. Bob was in a car accident a few years ago and is paralyzed from the waist down. Living in a wheelchair has been a challenge in their current home. The Marshalls have asked me to design a new home which will give Bob easy access and mobility. This home has been designed to universal design standards so that Bob will live barrier free in his most important space, his home. Bob and Sherry both like traditional furnishings, with a classic, clean look. They like patterns, light colors, hardwood floors, and plants. They would like the space to feel open and spacious, bringing the outdoors in. I have chosen a cool analogous color scheme to open up the space. The furnishings are streamlined, yet classical and sophisticated. Hardwood floors, tile, and low pile area rugs add to the traditional look and offer ease of mobility.

25. Residential – Universal Design kitchen selections Page 3 of 5 In this kitchen design, consideration for the client’s limited wheelchair accessibility, was given. The base cabinetry has an ADA standard toe kick, lots of pull out shelves and drawers, as well as mechanically lowered wall cabinetry. The inlaid tile pattern mimics a carpet runner, but without a transition change to slow Bob down.

30. Page 1 of 1 For this project, I used all the elements of accessorizing to update a room in the beautifully classical Neoclassical style. The motifs and architectural elements found in ancient Greece and Rome are what make this style enduring and truly classical. Accessorizing – Neoclassical Style

32. This kitchen remodel was designed for a family in Loveland, Ohio. It is transitional in styling, blending the wife’s love of the contemporary, and the husband’s preference for the traditional. The end result is a kitchen with a warm, inviting feel; incorporating both traditional and contemporary elements. After determining the clients desires, selections were made, working around the client’s existing dining room table. hardwood floors, and window treatments. Earlene not only made selections but was also responsible for all sourcing, scheduling, and project management . Page 1 of 2 Residential Kitchen Project: Loveland, Ohio
33. After Before Residential Kitchen Project Here are a few before and after pictures. To keep the overall cost of the project modest, the plumbing, main layout and soffit were left intact, although the soffit over the refrigerator and new tall pantry cabinet was bumped out to give a built in appearance. By moving the refrigerator to the right, clearance was given for the French doors to swing wide open. The awkward island was replaced with a larger, properly positioned island, allowing for seating and good traffic flow. The new under-cabinet and island lighting brighten up the space and highlight the new stainless steel appliances, beautiful cinnamon cherry cabinetry and stone tile backsplash. Page 2 of 2
