Finding The Real You
1. Finding the Real You
Your life can be a tricky thing, especially
while you are trying to find the real you.
Expressing what you are really about and
what you want out of life can be very
difficult.
Somewhere along the way, you found
yourself with a tremendous amount of
things to do, and take care of, which can
distract you form finding the real you. You
have a family, a home, a career, children,
friends, hobbies, and recreational activities
to think about.
Each of these things is a challenge and puts
continuous thoughts of what you “should” do, “could” do, or “would” do. When you were
younger, you had a vision of what your life was going to be, but now everything in your life
makes it seem that your earlier visions never materialized and that you are running around life
with blinders on.
Life is very much like a road, where there are turns and curves and potholes and detours, wet
roads, dry roads, icy roads that could change your course at any moment. You find yourself
cursing and wondering if you will ever be able to find the real you, the you that you envisioned a
long time ago in a land far far away.
Is there a way to play this game of life and still be able to live it as you expected too? Can you
live the life you want and keep it all in balance? Can you stay connected and continue to let your
life take its natural course and grow with it without letting the results screw up the whole
process?
Sure you can! But it takes time, patience and you must realize that the reality of it all is that life
does not always turn out the way we wanted it too or expected it too. You won’t get there by
forsaking the world and your commitment with it, on any level.
You have to capture and properly manage everything in life that has your attention. Sometimes,
you have to let go of certain things, if even only for a short period of time in order to find the real
you.
We all have our day-to-day activities, projects that we are trying to complete, areas of
responsibility that must be completed to maintain our standards, the things we want to
accomplish and achieve in the future, and our overall purpose in this world as human beings.

2. If you think too much about everything that has gone right or wrong in your life and continually
dwell on what might or might not happen, keeping your sanity is next to impossible.
There are only so many hours in a day and in order to keep you’re your sanity and find the real
you, time must be made for yourself and nobody else. Sometimes you have to put certain things
to the side and just forget about them for awhile. You need to do something to get away from it
all, be in your own little world, all by yourself, relieved from the day to day stress that surrounds
your life and keeps you away from being the real you.
Granted finding the real you will not come from trying to ignore everything that needs to be
done, or just not doing it, or trying to do it all and get it over with, because that will not work
either. However, finding a specific amount of time during your day to get away from it all, even
if it is 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour a day, to get everything out of your head and just enjoy
the fact that you are alive and are a special person when you are being you and not trying to
please everyone else.
So whatever it is that you really enjoy doing, whether it be reading a book, working in the
garden, playing a round of golf, watching a little TV, cooking, listening to music, or going for a
drive in the country by yourself, give yourself some “you” time and do it!
You will find that finding the real you are not as difficult or time consuming as you thought it
might have been. So give yourself some time for yourself every day, forget about everything else
for a little while and be the real you.
The rest of the day and your life will seem much more tolerable and the change of directions in
the road won’t be as rough.
