2. Romans 8 1 There is therefore now no condem-nation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the Law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh , God sending His Own Son in the like-ness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the Righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us , who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
3. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
4. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ , he is none of His. Every believer receives the Lord into his heart, in the Person of the Holy Ghost, When he becomes a child of God, In the moment of salvation ! Spirit of God = Spirit of Christ = Holy Spirit
5. So, why does God's Holy Spirit have more influence in the lives of some Christians than in others? Some Christians embrace the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, and resist the devil. While others resist the things of God, while embracing the world, its pleasures, and its things. They resist prayer and worship ; they resist the Word of God ; they resist going to church . They resist submission and obedience . They want to go their own way ; do their own thing .

9. 19 Quench not the Spirit. Quench means to put out the fire. Don't put out the fire of the Spirit. Move with the Spirit. Willing
10. 20 Despise not prophesyings. To prophesy is to speak what God says about a matter. What God says is all that matters. None of these have Wisdom; only God.
11. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Prove means to test. Does that mean try it and see if we like it? Test it in the test tube of the Word of God.
12. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. The obvious question is, "appear evil to who?" If God says it's evil, then it is evil. If God is silent, then let us be silent; ignore criticizers.
