Background & Message
GOALFISH is model and process that has evolved from a raw concept
relating to goal setting to an approach for creating personal vision and
action.
The original concept was born out of frustration with more traditional forms of goal setting and
a lack of follow through, fulfillment, conscious awareness and ultimately healthy sustainable
action.
The early phases of developing an idea about how to improve a goal setting process was
very basic. From this early stage the raw concept evolved from experiences with athletes,
coach and team psychologists in relation to sport and specifically rowing. For me personal it
has been a key element for enable sustainable elite performance over 10 years and through
three Olympic Games preparations.
The particular uses have included a self development process, one on one intensive
development / coaching sessions and small group engagements for individual and collective
focus. The most recent adaptations and changes in the approach and model have come in conjunction with delivering the model with participants at Mt Eliza
Business School and a range of clients including sporting teams, corporate teams and individuals during coaching and facilitation sessions.
As a model it has been designed to create a shift in perspective. Shifts are needed to enable greater clarity which in turn allows greater commitment to action. A
process of harnessing capacities within and engaging with the various influences external is essential. Mapping alone is not enough to create action. GOALFISH is a
call to action which comes out of deep reflection, imagining and consideration for why, how and what will enable or inhibit you in relation to what want and or need to
move forward in the most effective way.
I hope GOALFISH can bring you closer to what you can see as important to you and those around you moving forward. Our capacity to visualise our future is a key
ingredient to achieving and realising our potential. Moving forward requires just one initial step to be made to get the ball rolling. Itʼs a choice to make your vision
possible.
All the best moving forward

The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low
and we reach it.
-Michelangelo
Focus
•What are your challenges ahead?
•What do you want to achieve?
•What do you need/want to improve?
•What do you need/want to change?
WARNING:
New insights fail to get put into practice because they conflict with deeply held internal images of how the world works ... images that limit us to
familiar ways of thinking and acting. That is why the discipline of managing mental models -- surfacing, testing, and improving our internal pictures of
how the world works -- promises to be a major breakthrough for learning organizations.
-Peter Senge
