1. Dog (Canine) & Cat (Feline) Vaccinations
Vaccines are products designed to trigger protective immune responses in pets and prepare them
to fight future infections from disease-causing agents. Vaccines can lessen the severity of future
diseases and certain vaccines can prevent infection altogether. Today, a variety of vaccines are
available for use by veterinarians. DPC Veterinary Hospital provides a wide variety of
vaccination packages for both kittens and puppies, as well as, adult dogs and cats.
It is important to begin vaccinating your pet at an early age. Puppy and kitten vaccinations are
given to protect your pet from life threatening diseases. When the veterinarian injects your puppy
with a vaccine, it "teaches" the puppy's immune system what a disease organism looks like. Your
puppy's system will form anti-bodies to that.
If you have recently acquired a new puppy or kitten it is important to call and set up an
appointment for vaccinations with our Fort Lauderdale area office as soon as possible! Your new
loved one's health is important to us!
Kitten & Puppy Packages
In addition to puppy packages and kitten packages, DPC also offers adult vaccination
packages geared towards keeping your pet in optimum health. Your pet will receive an annual
physical examination where the doctor will check the mouth, look in the ears, listen to the heart
and lungs, and check for intestinal parasites. Any dietary issues will be addressed and your
doctor will give you their recommendations should he think any changes to your pet's current
habits are needed.
Annual vaccinations for your cat should include Rabies, Feline Distemper, and Leukemia. It is
especially important for any pet who goes outdoors to be routinely tested for Feline AIDS and
Leukemia.
Annual vaccinations for your dog should include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella
(Kennel Cough) vaccines; as well as an annual blood test to screen for heartworm. A fecal
examination will also rule out intestinal parasites.
