type of business
• Tesco is a global scale organisation as today Tesco
operates in 14 markets across Europe ,Asia and
North America . Tesco has over 300,000
employees and over 2,900 stores. Tesco is a
public limited company (PLC). A PLC is a company
which sells/trades shares to the public

The purpose
• Tesco's main purpose is to create value for
customers to earn their lifetime loyalty. Tesco
offers a wide range of products and services
from groceries, household products ,clothing
to insurance (travel insurance).Tesco is a
retailer so therefore is the tertiary sector.
Tertiary sector provides services to the
general population and to businesses e.g.
wholesale sales, transportation and
distribution.

• The main aim of Tesco is to maximise profits
other aims and objectives are :
• to provide goods and services that are cheap
and affordable to the general public
• to maximise sales
• to grow and maintain the number on retail in
the UK
• to outshine competitors and remain the
market leader.

• Tesco's ownership is owned by several
partners , Tesco is owned by thousands of
people this is because Tesco is a PLC and is
owned by shareholders who fund the
company .

The advantages of the type of ownership Tesco
are is that Tesco have a limited liability for the
shareholders , the business can raise a large
capital sum as there is no limit to the number
of shareholders. The disadvantages are the
original owners may lose control ,there are
strict control and regulations to comply in
order to protect the interest .
7. Stakeholder Points to cover
Owners When an owner manages a business, the performance and conduct of
the business also affects the reputation of the owner, business affects his
earnings and wealth. So he would be interested in how much profit
Tesco makes .
Customers The customers are the people who purchase the goods and services they
would want cheap and affordable products from Tesco's as it is one of
Tesco's aim.
employees The employees are the people who work for Tesco’s has over 300,000
employees and they are interested in their wages , job security and pay
rise
Suppliers Tesco's suppliers would ne interested in the continues customers which
would equal revenue
Pressure groups Pressure groups such as Friends of the Earth (FOE) point to Tesco's
policies of buying up large amounts of land in order to build new stores;
fighting battles with local authorities over planning; and bringing the
company's brand into the high street through its purchase of small
convenience stores.
Local community Local community are the people who live next to Tesco's and they are
interested in buying the goods and services in Tesco .

8. Organisation 2: Oxfam
type of business
• Oxfam is a international charity that works
with businesses that are big and small to
address global poverty. There will be paid
staff, and a CEO who deals with all the staff
and press, but all decisions are made by a
board of trustees, elected by the people who
pay e.g. members/donors . They have a
responsibility to follow their members/donors'
wishes, and to do what they set out to do like
help people overseas

The purpose
• Oxfam's purpose is working with thousands of
local partner organizations, we work with
people living in poverty striving to exercise
their human rights, assert their dignity as full
citizens and take control of their lives.

organisations who are the trustees of the
organisation, working in 98 countries
worldwide to find lasting solutions to poverty
and injustice. So it is also owned by many
people .

• The disadvantages and advantages about
Oxfam’s ownership is that they are raising
cash in able to help the poor , they help the
poor but sometimes they don't have that
much cash to help the people who need it the
most .

14. • A stakeholder is anyone who has interest in a
business anyone from the customers to the
pressure groups, Stakeholders are also people
who are affected by the activity of the
business they influence the business because
businesses want to please there shareholders .
Businesses will automatically do what they
believe is in the best interest for both the
company and investors
