27. Conclusions As with many interventions intended to prevent ill health, the effectiveness of parachutes has not been subjected to rigorous evaluation by using randomised controlled trials. Advocates of evidence based medicine have criticised the adoption of interventions evaluated by using only observational data . We think that everyone might benefit if the most radical protagonists of evidence based medicine organised and participated in a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled, crossover trial of the parachute.

Notas do Editor
So to the results of our survey. Approximately 40% of physicians say they have done ethically problematic choices or treatment desicions in their work. What does this mean? Is it a lot or a little? Due to the conseptual difficulties inherent in measuring ”ethical problems” as such, Ipersonally think this figure is very difficult to interpret.
This table reports the 10 specialities with highest frequency of ethical problems. (There are alltogether 49 medical specialities in Finland) Of the different medical specialities, geriatrics reported most often ethical problems (71%), followed by child psychiatrists (59%), neurosurgeons (56%), psychiatrists (54%) and oncologists (48%). The results are quite intuitive (Printaa koko lista, josta löytyvät myös vähiten ongelmalliset alat!
