⢠Lev 5:14 The Guilt Offering, Restitution
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering

5. Leviticus 6:2, Sins Against The LORD
⢠Leviticus 6:2 "When a person sins and acts unfaithfully
against the LORD, and deceives his companion in
regard to a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or
through robbery, or if he has extorted from his
companion,
⢠So, which was it a sin against âhis companionâ or
âagainst the LORDâ?
⢠Psalm 51:4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And
done what is evil in Your sightâŚ
⢠All sin is against the LORD! Itâs always done by
someone made in His image (misrepresenting Him)
⢠And usually done against someone made in His image.
6. Leviticus 6:2, What Is Sin?
⢠DLKâs definition; âAll sin is a misrepresentation of the
LORDâs character by someone made in His image,
usually a violation of His Law.â
⢠The WESTMINSTER SHORTER CATECHISM says;
⢠Q. 14. What is sin?
⢠A. Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression
of, the law of God.
⢠Jesus said in Matthew 5:22 "But I say to you that
everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty
before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You
good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme
court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty
enough to go into the fiery hell.
7. Leviticus 6:5, Offering
⢠Leviticus 6:5 or anything about which he swore
falsely; he shall make restitution for it in full and
add to it one-fifth more. He shall give it to the
one to whom it belongs on the day he presents
his guilt offering.
⢠This word, âoffering,â is one of the most
important words in Leviticus. âTheâ âofferingâ is
required to approach an infinitely holy God.
⢠NAS uses of this word, âoffering,â in Leviticus
more than any other book (170Xâs).
8. Letâs read Leviticus 6:8-13
⢠Lev 5:1 Testifying, Uncleanness, Breaking Vows
⢠Lev 5:14 The Guilt Offering, Restitution
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
9. So Far, To The People
⢠Leviticus 5:1âŚsinsâŚpublic adjuration to testify
⢠Leviticus 5:3 âŚhis uncleannessâŚ
⢠Leviticus 5:4 âŚswears thoughtlesslyâŚ
⢠Leviticus 5:15 âŚacts unfaithfully and sins âŚagainst the
LORD'S holy thingsâŚ
⢠Leviticus 6:2 âŚsins and acts unfaithfully âŚdeceives his
companion âŚorâŚrobbery, or if he has extortedâŚ
⢠Now, The Burnt Offering, changing gearsâŚ
⢠Leviticus 1:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel⌠[to 6:7]
⢠Now; Leviticus 6:9 "Command Aaron and his sonsâŚ
10. Leviticus 6:9, Burnt All Night
⢠Leviticus 6:9 âŚthe burnt offering itself shall remain on
the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and
the fire on the altar is to be kept burning on it.
⢠Leviticus 6:12 âŚbe kept burningâŚ
⢠Leviticus 6:13 'Fire shall be kept burningâŚ
⢠3Xâs here! Think God wants it kept burning?
⢠Completely consumed, Christ really died.
⢠Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of
God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,
holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of
worship.
⢠Folks who reject Godâs offering will suffer eternal fire.
11. Worship
⢠Carol McLeod said, âOne of most refreshing daily
exercises that you will ever participate in is the
choice to spend time in worship. It is of vital
importance that you understand that the time
spent in sheer worship is going to enable you to
withstand the storms of life.â
⢠Not one use of âworshipâ in Leviticus
⢠Not one use of âunderstandâ in Leviticus
⢠Leviticus is more about âapproachingâ God
âcoming near/ before, into the tabernacle,â come
before the LORD, come forth [Leviticus 16:1, 22:3
12. Leviticus 6:11, Put On Other Garments
⢠Leviticus 6:11 'Then he shall take off his garments and
put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the
camp to a clean place.
⢠Luke 9:29 âŚHis clothing became white and gleaming.
⢠Revelation 1:13 and in the middle of the lampstands I
saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching
to the feetâŚ
⢠Revelation 3:4 'But you have a few people in Sardis
who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk
with Me in white, for they are worthy.
⢠1 Corinthians 15:53 For this perishable must put on the
imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
⢠Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus ChristâŚ
13. Letâs read Leviticus 6:14-23
⢠Lev 5:1 Testifying, Uncleanness, Breaking Vows
⢠Lev 5:14 The Guilt Offering, Restitution
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
14. Leviticus 6:17,
Their Share From My Offerings
⢠Leviticus 6:17 'It shall not be baked with leaven. I have
given it as their share from My offerings by fire; it is
most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
⢠It is given as a gift, a share of âMy offerings,â it is most
holy, and a sin offering. Hmmmm?
⢠John 6:31 âŚbread out of heaven to eat⌠33 "For the
bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven,
and gives life to the world.â⌠35 Jesus said to them, "I
am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not
hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
15. Leviticus 6:18,
Touch And Become Consecrated
⢠Leviticus 6:18 âŚthe offerings by fire to the LORD.
Whoever touches them will become consecrated.'"
⢠Matthew 9:21 for she was saying to herself, "If I only
touch His garment, I will get well.â
⢠Matthew 14:36âŚjust touch the fringe of His cloakâŚ
⢠Mark 8:22 âŚthey brought a blind man to Jesus and
implored Him to touch him.
⢠Mark 10:13 âŚbringing children to Him so that He might
touch themâŚ
⢠Luke 6:19 And all the people were trying to touch Him,
for power was coming from Him and healing them all.
⢠Luke 8:46 But Jesus said, "Someone did touch Me, for I
was aware that power had gone out of Me.â
⢠Mk. 3:10, 5:28, 6:56, 2 Co. 6:17, Col. 2:21, 1 Jn. 5:18
16. Letâs read Leviticus 6:24-30
⢠Lev 5:1 Testifying, Uncleanness, Breaking Vows
⢠Lev 5:14 The Guilt Offering, Restitution
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
17. Leviticus 6:30, Burned With Fire
⢠Leviticus 6:30 'But no sin offering of which any of the
blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make
atonement in the holy place shall be eaten; it shall be
burned with fire.
⢠The Passover lamb was to be;
⢠Exodus 12:8 'They shall eat the flesh that same night,
roasted with fire⌠roasted with fire, both its head and
its legs along with its entrails. 10 'And you shall not
leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left
of it until morning, you shall burn with fire.
⢠John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him
and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away
the sin of the world!
18. Leviticus 6:30, Blood âatonementâ
⢠Leviticus 6:30 'But no sin offering of which any of the blood
is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in
the holy place shall be eaten; it shall be burned with fire.
⢠This word, âatonement,â is one of the most important
words in Leviticus. The âcoveringâ required to approach an
infinitely holy God. There is only covering, blood, one way
(John14:6, Isaiah 6:5, 59:2 âburned with fireâ).
⢠Hebrews 9:22 And according to the Law, one may almost
say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without
shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
⢠1/2 of all NAS uses of this word are in Leviticus (45/88), 3Xâs
as much as any other book (Numbers has 15). There are no
NT, NAS, uses of this word (1ea. KJV, Rom 5:11, 1ea. NIV Hebrews
9:5).
19. Leviticus 6:30, Blood âatonementâ
⢠Leviticus 6:30 'But no sin offering of which any
of the blood is brought into the tent of
meeting to make atonement in the holy place
shall be eaten; it shall be burned with fire.
⢠This doctrine of âblood atonement,â is so
important, and clearly taught here in Leviticus,
caused J. V. McGee to say that Leviticus âis the
most important book in the Bible.â
20. Leviticus Outline
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
21. Letâs read Leviticus 7:1-10
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
22. Leviticus 7:5, The Priest Shall
⢠Leviticus 7:5 'The priest shall offer them up in smoke
on the altar as an offering by fire to the LORD; it is a
guilt offering.
⢠Remember we âswitched gearsâ at 6:8. We stopped the
instruction for âany manâ to âAaron and his sonsâ.
⢠Leviticus 1:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to
them, 'When any man of you brings an offering to the
LORDâŚ
⢠Leviticus 6:9 "Command Aaron and his sons, saying,
'This is the lawâŚ
⢠This is important if you are a son of Aaron, or not.
23. Leviticus 7:6
Every Male Among The Priests
⢠Leviticus 7:6 'Every male among the priests may eat of it. It
shall be eaten in a holy place; it is most holy.
⢠Eliminating everybody else.
⢠1 Timothy 3:2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach,
the husband [masculine singular ] of one wife, temperate,
prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
⢠Titus 1:5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you might
set in order what remains, and appoint elders [masculine plural ]
in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, if any man [masculine
singular] be above reproach, the husband [masculine singular] of
one wife, having children who believe, not accused of
dissipation or rebellion.
24. Letâs read Leviticus 7:11-21
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
25. Leviticus 7:11-36,
Priests Laws For Peace Offerings
⢠Leviticus 7:11 'Now this is the law of the
sacrifice of peace offerings which shall be
presented to the LORD.
⢠These are laws for the priests for peace
offerings, 5:14-6:7 covered it for âany manâ.
26. Leviticus 7:15,
Leave None Until Morning
⢠Leviticus 7:15 'Now as for the flesh of the sacrifice of his
thanksgiving peace offerings, it shall be eaten on the day of
his offering; he shall not leave any of it over until morning.
⢠Why not leave any of it over until morning? Refrigeration?
Unclean?
⢠This is serious;
⢠Leviticus 7:18 âŚeaten on the third day, he who offers it will
not be acceptedâŚwill bear his own iniquity
⢠Matthew 27:50 And Jesus âŚyielded up His spiritâŚ. 57 When
it was eveningâŚ58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the
body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59
And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen
clothâŚ
27. Letâs read Leviticus 7:22-27
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
28. Leviticus 7:24, Animal Fat
⢠Leviticus 7:24 'Also the fat of an animal which
dies and the fat of an animal torn by beasts
may be put to any other use, but you must
certainly not eat it.
⢠Animal fat could be used for âany other use,â
what would that be?
⢠Candles, soap, grease (axel not cooking), and
maybe treating leather.
29. Leviticus 7:27, No Eating Blood
⢠Leviticus 7:27 'Any person who eats any blood, even
that person shall be cut off from his people.'â
⢠Very serious;
⢠Leviticus 17:11 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood,
and I have given it to you on the altar to make
atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason
of the life that makes atonement.'
⢠Matthew 26:27 And when He had taken a cup and
given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it,
all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which
is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.
30. Letâs read Leviticus 7:28-38
⢠Lev 6:8 The Burnt Offering
⢠Lev 6:14 The Grain Offering
⢠Lev 6:24 The Sin Offering
⢠Lev 7:1 The Guilt Offering
⢠Lev 7:11 The Fellowship Offering
⢠Lev 7:22 Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
⢠Lev 7:28 The Priests' Share
31. Leviticus 7:30, âbefore the LORDâ
⢠Leviticus 7:30 'His own hands are to bring
offerings by fire to the LORD. He shall bring the
fat with the breast, that the breast may be
presented as a wave offering before the LORD.
⢠This phrase, âbefore the LORD,â is profoundly
important in Leviticus. The requirements to
approach an infinitely holy God (face to face,
toward the face of, in front of). There is only one
way (John14:6, Isaiah 6:5, 59:2).
⢠!/4 of all NAS uses of this phrase are in Leviticus
(59/259), twice as much as any other book.
32. Leviticus 7:30, âbefore the LORDâ
⢠Leviticus 7:30 âŚHe shall bring theâŚoffering
before [<06440> panim] the LORD.
⢠Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have made a
separation between you and your God, And
your sins have hidden His face [<06440>
panim] from you so that He does not hear.
33. Leviticus 7:30, A Wave Offering
⢠Leviticus 7:30 'His own hands are to bring offerings by
fire to the LORD. He shall bring the fat with the breast,
that the breast may be presented as a wave offering
before the LORD.
⢠Bible Knowledge Commentary says, ââŚThe breast of
the fellowship offering was to be waved before the
Lord as a wave offering. Jewish scholars interpreted
this as a sideways action, dedicating the offering to
the Lord. On the other hand they regarded the âheave
offeringâ (kjv; niv translates contribution, v. 32, and
regular share, v. 34) of the right thigh (v. 32) as an up-
and-down motionâŚâ
34. KJV Leviticus 7:36,
He Anointed Them, By A Statute
⢠KJV Leviticus 7:36 Which the LORD commanded to
be given them of the children of Israel, in the day
that he anointed them, by a statute for ever
throughout their generations.
⢠04886 mashach {maw-shakh'}
⢠Meaning: 1) to smear, anoint, spread a liquid 1a)
âŚto smear 1a2) to anoint (as consecration) 1a3)
to anoint, consecrateâŚ
⢠02708 chuqqah {khook-kaw'}
⢠Meaning: 1) statute, ordinance, limit, enactment,
something prescribed 1a) statute
35. Leviticus 7:37-38, Summary
⢠Leviticus 7:38 which the LORD commanded
Moses at Mount Sinai in the day that He
commanded the sons of Israel to present their
offerings to the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai.
⢠This last paragraph summarizes Leviticus chapters
1-7. The instructions to the Israelites (1:1â6:7)
and the laws and regulations to the priests, Aaron
and his sons (6:8â7:36).
⢠Remember that Moses is still on Mount Sinai.
36.
37. âa good thoughtâ In Closing
⢠Leo Tolstoy said, âWe regret losing a purse full of
money, but a good thought which has come to us,
which weâve heard or read, a thought which we should
have remembered and applied to our life, which could
have improved the world- we lose this thought and
promptly forget about it, and we do not regret it,
though it is more precious than millions.â
⢠If this is true of âa good thoughtâ, how much more so
concerning missed evangelism opportunities?
⢠We should regret folks losing heaven and Jesus!
