 This survey was conducted to study about Credit Card Usage in Vietnam
 Methodology: Online survey
 Fieldwork time: 5 days (29/05/2017 – 2/06/2017)
 Sample size: N = 410
 Geography: Nationwide

RESPONDENTS SELECTION
Respondents of this survey had to be qualified below criteria
 Age : Above 18
 Personal Income : Over $300
 Occupation : Except for Pupils
 Usage : Credit Card

KEY FINDINGS
1) Credit Card Usage Behaviors
• On average, users start owning a credit card from 25 years old
• Current cash withdrawal interest rate is considered acceptable
• Current overdue repayment interest is considered high
• Online payment (79%), Shopping abroad (65%), Pay for utility (63%) are top 3 things
appropriate for using credit card
• High confidential transaction, Large ATM network, Internet banking are top 3 most important
things to open a credit card
• Relatives/ friends/ colleagues recommendation (WOM) is the key influential factor making using
credit card
2) Perception of Credit Card
• Convenient for carrying, Possible for online purchase, Useful in urgent cases are top 3
advantages of credit card
• Must pay interest if beyond the payment period, Annual fee, Easy to use exceed limit are top 3
disadvantages of credit card
• Credit card is the best choice for payment when travelling abroad
• Credit card is considered highest security comparing with other types of card (Debit, Prepaid)
• 19-25 years old is considered an appropriate age to own a credit card
• Businessman (90%), Office worker (90%), Government officer (82%) are considered appropriate
targets to use credit card
• 40% think that an individual should have 2 credit cards

  • 4. 3 KEY FINDINGS 1) Credit Card Usage Behaviors • On average, users start owning a credit card from 25 years old • Current cash withdrawal interest rate is considered acceptable • Current overdue repayment interest is considered high • Online payment (79%), Shopping abroad (65%), Pay for utility (63%) are top 3 things appropriate for using credit card • High confidential transaction, Large ATM network, Internet banking are top 3 most important things to open a credit card • Relatives/ friends/ colleagues recommendation (WOM) is the key influential factor making using credit card 2) Perception of Credit Card • Convenient for carrying, Possible for online purchase, Useful in urgent cases are top 3 advantages of credit card • Must pay interest if beyond the payment period, Annual fee, Easy to use exceed limit are top 3 disadvantages of credit card • Credit card is the best choice for payment when travelling abroad • Credit card is considered highest security comparing with other types of card (Debit, Prepaid) • 19-25 years old is considered an appropriate age to own a credit card • Businessman (90%), Office worker (90%), Government officer (82%) are considered appropriate targets to use credit card • 40% think that an individual should have 2 credit cards
