Cervical cancer cases down but increase in breast cancer cases in India
A Lancet study led by former DG, ICMR and current DDG of
WHO tracing the incidence of various cancers across Indian
states suggests that India has managed to bring down cases of
cervical and oesophageal cancers however, cases of cancers of
breast, liver and lungs have increased drastically contributing
to steep rise in cancer cases in India between 1990 and 2016.

2. Prevalence of diabetes up by 150% in India in 26 years
Another Lancet study showed that diabetes cases have increased
by 150% in India between 1990 and 2016. The total number of
cases has gone up from 26 million in 1990 to 65 million in 2016.
The death rate due to diabetes has increased by 131%.
