This document discusses how to enrich data in SAP Lumira by managing measures, creating time and geographic hierarchies, and other options like calculated fields. Specifically, it covers automatically converting numeric columns to measures, promoting attributes to measures, modifying aggregation methods, creating a time hierarchy to visualize sales revenue by year and quarter, creating a geographic hierarchy to map locations to country and city levels for pie charts of sales by country and city, and defining calculated measures or attributes.

2. Manage measures in a dataset

• All columns from the original data source that were
formated as numbers are automatically converted to
measures. If the column should be treated as attribute, it
can be removed from the measures
• If the column was not recognized as a measure, the
attribute can be promoted to a measure
• You can also modify the aggregation method for existing
measures. By default measures are aggregated as a sum.
In some instances however a different method of
aggregation or no aggregation at all may be more
appropriate

3. Create a time hierarchy

Attributes, that can be semantically enriched are indicated with the question mark
over the icon that identifies the data type
o Open the “Retail” dataset created in the first lecture
o Create a time hierarchy for the Date attribute
o Visualize the data from the hierarchy
o Create a Line Chart showing Sales Revenue by Year
(use time hierarchy as X-Axis)
o Keep only “City Trousers” and “Trousers” Lines
o Add Lines attribute to legend
o Show Data Labels
o Change the level of the hierarchy to display data by
quarter
o The values are now broken down to a more
meaningful level
o Save you changes to both the visualization and the
document

4. Create a geographic hierarchy

o Create a geographical hierarchy based on location names for
the City attribute. You can map the geographic data by
correlating an attribute with the appropriate level in the
hierarchy
o The City attribute has been automatically mapped to the City
level. Map the Country attribute to the Country level
The results of the mapping are displayed. It could be that not all
data has been resolved. SAP Lumira allows to edit the mappings.
o Visualize the data from the hierarchy. Create a new
visualization to show pie charts for each geographic area
o Show Sales Revenue by Lines for each Country
o Filter the data to keep only Trousers and City Trousers Lines
o Add a Country filter and keep only United States
o Change the level of the geographical hierarchy to see the
values for each city
o Save the new visualization and your changes to the document

Similarly the geographical hierarchy can be created based on latitude and longitude

6. Other options

• It is possible to create a calculated field from the measure or attribute settings
• You can define a name and a formula for a new column
• You can construct the formula using the combination of existing measures or
attributes for a calculated attribute, functions and standard operators

• In Prepare workspace it is possible to sort data directly in a dataset
• It is also possible to filter the column to exclude specific data from the dataset
• These changes impact the visualizations
