Candy invites Sarah (the potential new live-in cook and housekeeper) over to see the house and meet the family. Candy is fed up with her dirty surroundings and hopes that Sarah agrees to move in and work for the Pratt family.
2. Candy’s new shortened work week gives her another day off. Her plans for the day includes inviting Sarah, the potential new housekeeper, over to see the house and meet the family. She will also hold a business meeting at the Bistro.
3. Gwendolyn is up, dressed and ready to start her fist day of high school. Who knows, maybe she’ll even meet a friend.
4. Gwendolyn looks around the kitchen. The house is still a mess. She knows that Candy is probably very upset about it.
6. Gwendolyn joins Candy in the dining room. Sure enough, Candy is complaining about the state of the house. “I want you to stick around for a minute to meet Sarah. Hopefully she’ll agree to work for us.” Candy informs Gwendolyn.
7. “I want you and Spencer to be on your best behavior while she’s here. We don’t want to scare her away. I don’t think any of us could stand to spend another day in this mess.”
13. …and making her bed. Gwendolyn is definitely not a stranger to hard work and house cleaning. Growing up, she never dreamed that she’d ever live in a house with a maid.
18. A few minutes before Spencer & Gwendolyn have to leave for school, Sarah arrives. Candy is happy to see her. She hopes that this visit will convince her to move in.
19. Candy greets Sarah with sincere gratitude. “Thank you so much for coming at such short notice Sarah.” Sarah already feels appreciated.
20. Over the years, Sarah has worked for some very snobby families that treated Sarah as just a low class maid. Sarah can tell that working for Candy would be very different.
21. On his way to the school bus, Spencer stops and introduces himself to Sarah.
22. Gwendolyn does the same. Sarah has a great first impression of both children.
23. “How would you feel about being in charge of cleaning such a large house daily?” Candy asks.
24. “I actually find cleaning relaxing. Strange…I know, but I try to make cleaning fun, rather than treat it like a chore. Your house will be no problem for me.” Sarah answers.
25. Sarah goes on to describe her work at some of the other large houses that she has worked for in the past.
26. The temporary maid arrives while Candy and Sarah chat. Candy hopes that this will be his last day here. She has not been impressed with his work.
27. Sarah enters the Pratt home and takes a look around. She can definitely picture herself here.
28. After looking around, Sarah joins Candy outside. Candy gives Sarah a run down of what her duties would be.
29. Candy also tells Sarah that she wants her to feel like a part of the family. “You should never see yourself as a servant here. I want you to enjoy being here; take breaks, use the computer, watch some TV.”
30. “Sarah, I really hope you can see yourself being here. We really need you and I would love for you to move in right away.” Candy tells Sarah.
31. Sarah thinks about all that she’s seen and heard. Candy is unlike anyone else that she’s ever worked for.
32. Sarah says yes. “I don’t think I’ve ever worked for someone like you Candy. I would love to get started right away.”
