 Glucose – simple form of sugar
 Insulin – hormone that utilizes glucose into energy
- produced in the pancreas (balabag)
- secreted when glucose is present in the body
 Diabetes – disorder of metabolism with note of
hyperglycemia (“elevated blood sugar level”)

 Decreased insulin sensitivity to glucose
 Decreased insulin production
 Increased intake of glucose or glucose production
 Decreased glucose utilization
