Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College
Corrected PS Growing up in a small townhouse, I would see my father only once a week on
Sundays because he was working long hours the rest of the week. When meeting him, I would
become very emotional because I knew that the reason I could not see him other days of the week
was because he was working. My father's hard work and perseverance gave me the drive to
become someone that he would be proud of. My goal is to become someone that he can say to
himself it was worth the long and strenuous hours spent at work. When I started my undergraduate
career, I did not have the intentions of entering this field of study. I wanted to run the family
business and make it successful. My father said, "If you want to enter the business and are willing
to do it every day, then work the entire summer." I was eager to start, arriving on time and being
the last one to leave. The enthusiasm soon abated, I could see that I no longer desired to run the
family business and did not enjoy my time working there. The end of the summer my father sat me
down once again and asked, "Are you ready to continue this any longer?" The answer was clear that

After reviewing my second year in undergraduate, I realized that I had to get more serious about
my education. I was an average student in school and I knew that I was not reaching my full
potential. I knew I needed to excel in all my classes to reach my educational goals. From that point,
I learned new studying techniques and went to office hours when needed. But I still had little idea

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into
the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content...
You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Gowing up to spend the past 18 years of my life on the Chicago Westside has been an interesting
journey. I currently live in the Austin community, where there is a population of 98,514 in 2010
and 85.1% is Black, 8.58% is Hispanic, and 4.43% is White. Growing up in an area of complete
violence and poverty felt like a game. Making sure you stay on your side of the block, making
sure you're home before dark, and even making sure you never walk alone. Never. A lot of people
get scared when they hear about a life like this, but it's reality for me, and I honestly feel pretty
comfortable with the people surrounding me. They look like me, talk like me, and even dress
like me. We all watch out for each other. It's a family beyond blood that was built in my
community. I live on a block where it is 95% Black. Besides my family, there is only one other
Hispanic family. I never really left my community or the type of people I surround myself with
either. I honestly didn't feel comfortable leaving and going into a "White" community. But my
comfort level was really tested when I left for the summer to the...show more content...

amazing opportunity was given to me, for free, I was very hesitant to make the commitment. I
wasn't so confident in myself, especially to be surrounded by the biggest white community in
Illinois, DuPage County. I had very little interest in attending Wheaton College for two summers. I
knew I wouldn't feel comfortable in that community. I wouldn't have my mom's delicious home
cooked meals every night, or to see my little brother and watch him play outside. I wouldn't have
that comfortability of being at home. I wouldn't be surrounded by my friends and family who
constantly look out for me. I was going to be in an unknown territory looking after myself. I was

I met my brother and sister from across a classroom desk in the basement of Saint Anthony's
Medical Center. I was walking into my first Alateen meeting with my biological sister, Alex, with
a blank stare and a mind overflowing with thoughts of why and how I had gotten there. Alex and I
sat down next to a boy, who was about sixteen years old with tan skin and brown hair, and a girl,
who was about twelve years old and looked just like him. Fast forward three years and I found
myself moving the boxes of these two into a new house. Everyday I am rendered by the mere
thought that if I hadn't gone to those meetings, if my mother hadn't gone to those meetings, I would
have lost another father. I did not lose my biological father in a physical aspect, rather I lost him in
a physiological way. My father spent most of his time in his chair, in the basement, with a handle of
vodka running through his bloodstream. Even though the memories of my father actually acting like
a true father were gone, I was left with an even stronger mother. Strength is the only word that can
perfectly describe my mother, and being that I did not grow up with a stable father, strength is what
I know. Through her strength in character she has taught me to work even harder when eyes are

Personal Narrative: My Essay For College
During my searches for colleges to attend following my senior year of high school, WLC had come
as a high recommendation from my older sister, Lauren, a current undergrad student at WLC. At the
time, I was looking to go into Digital Media as my major, though things have now changed. At the
time of my initial visit and admissions process I was quite impressed with the school and found it to
be in my top 3. I've been in the Lutheran church my whole life (WELS while in New York and
LCMS after moving to Wisconsin) as well as attending private Lutheran school from grade school
through high school, so it seemed like a natural continuation. I loved the campus, small class size,
and the general vibe I got from the visit. However, at the time wanting to go into Media, I felt less

This led me to attend Olivet Nazarene University this past year, as per influence from my high
school youth leaders. Not majoring in anything related to religious studies, I didn't find myself too
bothered in my disagreements in the belief system taught there. The first fall semester went mostly
well, but it was this current spring semester when my life decided to take a turn. Opening up about
my personal life, I have struggled with issues of anxiety and depression, which on occasion have
affected my academic performance in the past, as I would fail to actively seek out counseling
opportunities. Two and a half months in, I saw myself reach an all–time low in my studies. I was
failing to apply effective studying techniques, and attend class on a regular basis. By my failing
to actively seek to solve personal issues, they had severely affected my academic performance. I
often feel hesitant bringing these problems up, as I fear it can come off as insincere or an excuse.
This forced me to seek new counseling services at the school, and re–evaluate God's plan for my life.
I began to doubt my decision to major in multimedia studies, and whether there was some

When I first started college, the first thing I saw as I walked with my parents and all of my
luggage to my new room was an empty lounge. It looked like the kind of place that was supposed
to resemble the living room of a house, but it felt bare and unused. Because of the large wooden
wall, the area felt cut off and separate, so for the first few weeks of college, I spent more time in
my room, alone, rather than out in the lounge where a few people congregated to talk. As the
semester pushed forward, I pushed myself to venture out into the lounge more in order to make
friends on my floor. The closed off feeling of the lounge eventually came to feel like an asset. It
made the area feel like it was closed off enough to have a conversation and

Personal Narrative: My Writing-Based College
Well for me writing is my weak point. Although it is my weak point I have still been learning and
I am up for more opinions on how to better my writing skills. I can say that my writing skills have
gone up some since I have been enrolled Bethel University. When I first started here I was terrified,
especially when I found out that Bethel is a writing based college. I still get nervous and scared at the
beginning of every class and I stay nervous till I see how I am doing in the class. There has been
many teachers that have helped inspire me and those that have taught me to never give up no

Many parents and peers would say it is a gift that he has–– intense concentration and endurance, but
he likes to call it "strength under control." The truth is, under each attempt to gain control, is a
wavering risk taker who is humbled by each unlikely victory that would always bring him to tears.
That person is me. I like to thinking innovatively and calculate at least seven moves deep into the
most risky and daring variations. At the 2013 National Championships, first table, I was paired
against my close friend and arch–rival Austin Yang, the Taiwan chess champion. Everyone knew
Austin was a machine, he had destroyed his previous opponents and had barely lost any game that
year. To have a winning chance, I had to play the unconventional––the...show more content...
Then in third grade I was introduced to chess, and my mind was forever rewired. I remember the
first time I picked up a wooden chess piece, I was fascinated by its infinite combinations and
variations. Every piece worked harmoniously together. In my first national championship in fifth
grade, I distinctly recall that at one critical match there was a suffocating crowd of attention from
parents, and with a few seconds on my clock, I defeated my opponent. The pistons in my mind
were pumping so quickly that I was unconscious of its exact calculation process. To this day, I still
do not know how I won that match. Chess was never an old man's leisure game, to me it was war.
My coach would say that during each match my eyes became keen and piercing, as if I had turned
into a tamed beast maneuvering sculpted pieces around a checkerboard. My friends noticed these
same formidable features each time I entered the chemistry lab, delivered an electrifying debate
speech, or won an intense election

A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a
message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are
written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the
writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which
the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it
all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main
events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to
approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content...
This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me
that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it
taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When
choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and
shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for
my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to
write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although
breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever
broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that
was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach
as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May
have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth

Personal Narrative: Returning To College
Returning to college, after graduating high school twenty–five years earlier, proved to be not only
rewarding quite challenging as well. Viewing myself as a self–starter with extensive investigative
skills I truly believed college path mapped out correctly, so I never met with an advisor, what a
colossal mistake! I had self–scheduled all my courses and although I faced a few obstacles I was

Confronting academic subjects while attending multiple years of cross country, soccer, and track
was the most significant challenge. Dealing with school projects after a physical workout was
excruciating, but the idea of coming towards high school was to become the fastest runner at the
field and track. I achieved my goal, impressing my coaches with speed and school records, and
earned my varsity position in cross country. Looking at my older brothers in college, I realized that
pushing myself academically could lead to the opportunity of studying at a prestigious university
for my chosen field, so I spent all of my time focusing vastly on my courses inspired by my brothers
that are already studying in the University of California systems.

Four years ago, I was eagerly listening to Alex McDaniel, an award–winning journalist share her

Truthfully, I don't even recall the moment when I began to lose track of my deadlines and

Everyone knows that "freedom 55" (the ability to retire from work at that age) has turned out to
be a marketing slogan than a reality for most senior's in America. But there are still an enviable
few who were able to realize their dream (Susan Smith). In March of 2006, I became one of the
few that saw their dream come true, at age 58. I retired after 28 years working with the mentally
challenged individuals in a large state–run facility. I started working at the facility in the maintenance
department, as a housekeeper cleaning the buildings. After two years in that position, I realized
that I was capable of completing the duties of the assigned direct care staff, even though I only

people and the state offered promotional tests, I was able through the years to work my way up to

was also raised in a small town with a strong family. However, conceiving a child at such a young
age in college only added another obstacle of becoming a single mother while being a student. After
years of dedication and hard work, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Shortly after, she

overcome adversity. Watching my mother push through hardships has taught me to set even higher

My Life As a College Student
Making the Transition
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one student to dissolve the bonds
which have held him to his high school life, he can get fairly intimidated. Making the transition
from high school to college can be a tough one. I remember my experience in such a transition
vividly, as it was only a short time ago.
Growing up in a family in which both my parents had master's degrees, it was naturally expected
that I would go to college, and for both my own benefit as well as pleasing my parents, I chose to
pursue so–called "higher education". Stepping up to this "higher" plateau is no small matter, however.

(It may be a bit of a stretch here to call myself a man yet.) The hardest part was getting settled into
my new place. Fortunately, my campus has apartments in lieu of dormitories. I went to the lease
office and paid what, at the time, seemed like a fortune, and ran up and down two flights of stairs
for hours in an attempt to move in my belongings. My roommates seemed nice, and one of them had
yet to move in, so the room next to mine remained vacant for a while.
Boxed Noodles and Other Delicacies
The Darwinian theory of survival of the fittest translates well to the college world. While living on
my own, many of my long–dormant, carnivorous instincts kicked in. A trip to the local superstore
meant that my pantry was well stocked, but replenishing it was another matter. I soon found myself
planted firmly in a regimen of boxed noodles, frozen pizza, and TV dinners. While not the healthiest
of diets, they did allow me enough carbohydrates to make it through twelve hours of classes.
CB vs. CBW
After the initial stumbling block more commonly known as residential life, I faced the towering
challenge of settling into classes. Once I had registered (which was itself something of a dilemma),
I had in my hand a sheet of abbreviations that rivaled a military briefing or a computer manual. My
first class, on a Thursday morning, was located in a building called CBW, which stood for

Narrative Essay For College

  • 1. Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College Corrected PS Growing up in a small townhouse, I would see my father only once a week on Sundays because he was working long hours the rest of the week. When meeting him, I would become very emotional because I knew that the reason I could not see him other days of the week was because he was working. My father's hard work and perseverance gave me the drive to become someone that he would be proud of. My goal is to become someone that he can say to himself it was worth the long and strenuous hours spent at work. When I started my undergraduate career, I did not have the intentions of entering this field of study. I wanted to run the family business and make it successful. My father said, "If you want to enter the business and are willing to do it every day, then work the entire summer." I was eager to start, arriving on time and being the last one to leave. The enthusiasm soon abated, I could see that I no longer desired to run the family business and did not enjoy my time working there. The end of the summer my father sat me down once again and asked, "Are you ready to continue this any longer?" The answer was clear that I was not ready to run a family business my entire life....show more content... After reviewing my second year in undergraduate, I realized that I had to get more serious about my education. I was an average student in school and I knew that I was not reaching my full potential. I knew I needed to excel in all my classes to reach my educational goals. From that point, I learned new studying techniques and went to office hours when needed. But I still had little idea of what career path I wanted to take with my bachelors in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Narrative Essay For College Gowing up to spend the past 18 years of my life on the Chicago Westside has been an interesting journey. I currently live in the Austin community, where there is a population of 98,514 in 2010 and 85.1% is Black, 8.58% is Hispanic, and 4.43% is White. Growing up in an area of complete violence and poverty felt like a game. Making sure you stay on your side of the block, making sure you're home before dark, and even making sure you never walk alone. Never. A lot of people get scared when they hear about a life like this, but it's reality for me, and I honestly feel pretty comfortable with the people surrounding me. They look like me, talk like me, and even dress like me. We all watch out for each other. It's a family beyond blood that was built in my community. I live on a block where it is 95% Black. Besides my family, there is only one other Hispanic family. I never really left my community or the type of people I surround myself with either. I honestly didn't feel comfortable leaving and going into a "White" community. But my comfort level was really tested when I left for the summer to the...show more content... This program takes place over the course of two summers for a whole month. Although this amazing opportunity was given to me, for free, I was very hesitant to make the commitment. I wasn't so confident in myself, especially to be surrounded by the biggest white community in Illinois, DuPage County. I had very little interest in attending Wheaton College for two summers. I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable in that community. I wouldn't have my mom's delicious home cooked meals every night, or to see my little brother and watch him play outside. I wouldn't have that comfortability of being at home. I wouldn't be surrounded by my friends and family who constantly look out for me. I was going to be in an unknown territory looking after myself. • 4. Example Of A Narrative Essay For College I met my brother and sister from across a classroom desk in the basement of Saint Anthony's Medical Center. I was walking into my first Alateen meeting with my biological sister, Alex, with a blank stare and a mind overflowing with thoughts of why and how I had gotten there. Alex and I sat down next to a boy, who was about sixteen years old with tan skin and brown hair, and a girl, who was about twelve years old and looked just like him. Fast forward three years and I found myself moving the boxes of these two into a new house. Everyday I am rendered by the mere thought that if I hadn't gone to those meetings, if my mother hadn't gone to those meetings, I would have lost another father. I did not lose my biological father in a physical aspect, rather I lost him in a physiological way. My father spent most of his time in his chair, in the basement, with a handle of vodka running through his bloodstream. Even though the memories of my father actually acting like a true father were gone, I was left with an even stronger mother. Strength is the only word that can perfectly describe my mother, and being that I did not grow up with a stable father, strength is what I know. Through her strength in character she has taught me to work even harder when eyes are ...show more content... I am very confident in what I have to offer to Bradley University and I am more than fairly certain that my future will very much impact the future of our world. My success is just around the corner, and I want Bradley University to a part of it. By living out the strengths that my mother has taught me in my life, I know that I will not stop until I personally build the strength that I can pass down to my children. I know that no matter where I attend college I will be listed on the notable alumni list but I want my journey to success to begin and grow at Bradley Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Narrative: My Essay For College During my searches for colleges to attend following my senior year of high school, WLC had come as a high recommendation from my older sister, Lauren, a current undergrad student at WLC. At the time, I was looking to go into Digital Media as my major, though things have now changed. At the time of my initial visit and admissions process I was quite impressed with the school and found it to be in my top 3. I've been in the Lutheran church my whole life (WELS while in New York and LCMS after moving to Wisconsin) as well as attending private Lutheran school from grade school through high school, so it seemed like a natural continuation. I loved the campus, small class size, and the general vibe I got from the visit. However, at the time wanting to go into Media, I felt less enthusiastic about the...show more content... This led me to attend Olivet Nazarene University this past year, as per influence from my high school youth leaders. Not majoring in anything related to religious studies, I didn't find myself too bothered in my disagreements in the belief system taught there. The first fall semester went mostly well, but it was this current spring semester when my life decided to take a turn. Opening up about my personal life, I have struggled with issues of anxiety and depression, which on occasion have affected my academic performance in the past, as I would fail to actively seek out counseling opportunities. Two and a half months in, I saw myself reach an all–time low in my studies. I was failing to apply effective studying techniques, and attend class on a regular basis. By my failing to actively seek to solve personal issues, they had severely affected my academic performance. I often feel hesitant bringing these problems up, as I fear it can come off as insincere or an excuse. This forced me to seek new counseling services at the school, and re–evaluate God's plan for my life. I began to doubt my decision to major in multimedia studies, and whether there was some Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Example Of A Personal Narrative Essay On College When I first started college, the first thing I saw as I walked with my parents and all of my luggage to my new room was an empty lounge. It looked like the kind of place that was supposed to resemble the living room of a house, but it felt bare and unused. Because of the large wooden wall, the area felt cut off and separate, so for the first few weeks of college, I spent more time in my room, alone, rather than out in the lounge where a few people congregated to talk. As the semester pushed forward, I pushed myself to venture out into the lounge more in order to make friends on my floor. The closed off feeling of the lounge eventually came to feel like an asset. It made the area feel like it was closed off enough to have a conversation and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Personal Narrative: My Writing-Based College Well for me writing is my weak point. Although it is my weak point I have still been learning and I am up for more opinions on how to better my writing skills. I can say that my writing skills have gone up some since I have been enrolled Bethel University. When I first started here I was terrified, especially when I found out that Bethel is a writing based college. I still get nervous and scared at the beginning of every class and I stay nervous till I see how I am doing in the class. There has been many teachers that have helped inspire me and those that have taught me to never give up no matter what. So the advice I would give to my boss or family is to never give up. • 8. Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College Many parents and peers would say it is a gift that he has–– intense concentration and endurance, but he likes to call it "strength under control." The truth is, under each attempt to gain control, is a wavering risk taker who is humbled by each unlikely victory that would always bring him to tears. That person is me. I like to thinking innovatively and calculate at least seven moves deep into the most risky and daring variations. At the 2013 National Championships, first table, I was paired against my close friend and arch–rival Austin Yang, the Taiwan chess champion. Everyone knew Austin was a machine, he had destroyed his previous opponents and had barely lost any game that year. To have a winning chance, I had to play the unconventional––the...show more content... Then in third grade I was introduced to chess, and my mind was forever rewired. I remember the first time I picked up a wooden chess piece, I was fascinated by its infinite combinations and variations. Every piece worked harmoniously together. In my first national championship in fifth grade, I distinctly recall that at one critical match there was a suffocating crowd of attention from parents, and with a few seconds on my clock, I defeated my opponent. The pistons in my mind were pumping so quickly that I was unconscious of its exact calculation process. To this day, I still do not know how I won that match. Chess was never an old man's leisure game, to me it was war. My coach would say that during each match my eyes became keen and piercing, as if I had turned into a tamed beast maneuvering sculpted pieces around a checkerboard. My friends noticed these same formidable features each time I entered the chemistry lab, delivered an electrifying debate speech, or won an intense election Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Personal Narrative: Returning To College Returning to college, after graduating high school twenty–five years earlier, proved to be not only rewarding quite challenging as well. Viewing myself as a self–starter with extensive investigative skills I truly believed college path mapped out correctly, so I never met with an advisor, what a colossal mistake! I had self–scheduled all my courses and although I faced a few obstacles I was finally at the end. After completion of all my pre–requisites I applied to the LPN–RN Fast Track Program, little did I know my past would stop me dead in my tracks. You see, I had brought with me some heavy baggage from my past, deficient grade point average from earlier college attendance. When I received my denial letter to the program, it stated the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Example Of Narrative Essay For College Confronting academic subjects while attending multiple years of cross country, soccer, and track was the most significant challenge. Dealing with school projects after a physical workout was excruciating, but the idea of coming towards high school was to become the fastest runner at the field and track. I achieved my goal, impressing my coaches with speed and school records, and earned my varsity position in cross country. Looking at my older brothers in college, I realized that pushing myself academically could lead to the opportunity of studying at a prestigious university for my chosen field, so I spent all of my time focusing vastly on my courses inspired by my brothers that are already studying in the University of California systems. • 12. Example Of Narrative Essay For College Four years ago, I was eagerly listening to Alex McDaniel, an award–winning journalist share her personal insight into the profession at the University of Mississippi when it finally dawned on me: journalism is my calling. Later, I was watching Spotlight, a movie about the efforts of the Boston Globe in the early 2000's to showcase the Church's acknowledgment and blunt protection of the abuse of children by local priests, when I truly understood the importance of journalism. To this day, Spotlight remains a reminder to always print the un–biased truth for the people, no matter the risks. Narrative Essay For College My eyes were the worst mixture of bloodshot, purple and torture, my body in the worst state possible having gone seventy two hours without sleep, a meal and a proper shower and my mind, a complete mess. I was physically and mentally exhausted, my body and face displaying it all, yet I don't think I had ever came to know who I was more than at the very moment I saw myself completely shut down. Procrastination had won the battle against every fiber of my being. Truthfully, I don't even recall the moment when I began to lose track of my deadlines and determination to stay consistent with my academics. I however, vividly remember the cost I had to pay. The most time consuming and crucial project of my junior year had been my science fair project for my Biochemistry class that had required my complete attention– I was under its complete control, constantly testing and surveying students, analyzing their responses and interpreting every spec of data. The issue being that my remaining six classes seeked equal time in the spotlight. This very project had lead me to dangerously deem it as my priority over...show more content... I had trained myself to become a top student who contained all the opposing characteristics in order to be successful in my academics and maintain a healthy emotional and physical state. • 16. Personal Narrative-College Essay I grew up in a family that grew up in Agoura Hills, my mom, two uncles, aunt, and brother all went to Agoura High School and my grandpa is really involved in the community with the high school football team, AYSO, and pony league baseball. My brother is two grades above me and I had all of his teachers throughout elementary and middle school, even now i have some of his old art teachers. I was constantly referred to as his little sister and i really struggled with identity issues because of that. As much as I love art I couldn't really enjoy it because I felt pressured into it and I knew i would never be as good as my brother, as one of his ceramics teachers put it, "he is one of the top 1% of artists to come through this school." I was so tired of always just being someone's daughter or niece or granddaughter and sister. I wanted to establish a place for me and be myself and sports medicine ended up being the answer to that. After the first month of being in sports medicine I was so happy and gained so much confidence in myself. I used to hate school and now every day I had the class i came home smiling because of how fun the class was and everything came so easily and naturally to me. I was so happy with myself and I was able to start letting go of old insecurities and gain confidence. Having...show more content... I have been able to get involved in my community. I am a certified in the Community Emergency Response Team and I will able to help so many more people in the event of an emergency with my combined knowledge from that course and everything I have learned from sports medicine and emergency procedures. I also represented my school and sports medicine program at a networking breakfast at California Lutheran University which is something I never would have been able to do even a year ago. I was given a volunteer position at Los Robeles Hospital because of my experiences with sports Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Sample Of Narrative Essay For College Everyone knows that "freedom 55" (the ability to retire from work at that age) has turned out to be a marketing slogan than a reality for most senior's in America. But there are still an enviable few who were able to realize their dream (Susan Smith). In March of 2006, I became one of the few that saw their dream come true, at age 58. I retired after 28 years working with the mentally challenged individuals in a large state–run facility. I started working at the facility in the maintenance department, as a housekeeper cleaning the buildings. After two years in that position, I realized that I was capable of completing the duties of the assigned direct care staff, even though I only had a high school diploma. As a result of my natural empathic abilities to influence and manage people and the state offered promotional tests, I was able through the years to work my way up to a second level managerial position. Still, having completed all these levels in my professional life, I had not finished the main item listed in my preverbal lifelong goals, which was the completion of my college education....show more content... It was a struggle, but I got through junior high school and it wasn't until the early 70's while living in Germany as a military wife, I tested for my GED and passed. Meanwhile, my focus for the next few years was raising my three kids, and unlike my parents, I stressed education as one of their goals in life. Once my children grew up, left home and completed their education (all college graduates), I felt it was finally my turn to finish this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Personal Narrative: My Life In College Believe it or not, I began my life in college. My mother moved me to Austin when I was just six months old. She was only nineteen, studying as a full time student at the University of Texas. She was also raised in a small town with a strong family. However, conceiving a child at such a young age in college only added another obstacle of becoming a single mother while being a student. After years of dedication and hard work, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Shortly after, she became what she aspired to be; a registered nurse, through the support of her family and drive to overcome adversity. Watching my mother push through hardships has taught me to set even higher goals for myself. As I grew older, these family traits and values became Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Life As a College Student Making the Transition When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one student to dissolve the bonds which have held him to his high school life, he can get fairly intimidated. Making the transition from high school to college can be a tough one. I remember my experience in such a transition vividly, as it was only a short time ago. Growing up in a family in which both my parents had master's degrees, it was naturally expected that I would go to college, and for both my own benefit as well as pleasing my parents, I chose to pursue so–called "higher education". Stepping up to this "higher" plateau is no small matter, however. You Can Pick Your Friends A typical junior or senior in high...show more content... (It may be a bit of a stretch here to call myself a man yet.) The hardest part was getting settled into my new place. Fortunately, my campus has apartments in lieu of dormitories. I went to the lease office and paid what, at the time, seemed like a fortune, and ran up and down two flights of stairs for hours in an attempt to move in my belongings. My roommates seemed nice, and one of them had yet to move in, so the room next to mine remained vacant for a while. Boxed Noodles and Other Delicacies The Darwinian theory of survival of the fittest translates well to the college world. While living on my own, many of my long–dormant, carnivorous instincts kicked in. A trip to the local superstore meant that my pantry was well stocked, but replenishing it was another matter. I soon found myself planted firmly in a regimen of boxed noodles, frozen pizza, and TV dinners. While not the healthiest of diets, they did allow me enough carbohydrates to make it through twelve hours of classes. CB vs. CBW After the initial stumbling block more commonly known as residential life, I faced the towering challenge of settling into classes. Once I had registered (which was itself something of a dilemma), I had in my hand a sheet of abbreviations that rivaled a military briefing or a computer manual. My first class, on a Thursday morning, was located in a building called CBW, which stood for Classroom Building West. Surely the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
